Landing on the roads by
Lou
Quite a while ago I read somewhere that in certain areas of
some state the law permits landing on seldom used roads.
Any truth to this? Any printed materials on where and when?

So Long, One-Niner Foxtrot.. by
Dave S
I got an email yesterday from one of my flying friends.. the Bay Area
Aero Club's Cessna 172 was destroyed as a result of Hurricane Ike at its
home base of Pearland Regional Airport, formerly named Clover Field.
When I returned to flying in 2000, I joined the Aero Club.. it was then
based at...

Norcal Aviation by
[email protected]
I see from their web site that Norcal Aviation appears to be back,
with a new (and substantially more expensive) 172 on floats.
Anyone know anything about who's running the show now after the crash?
Is Terry back?
I know I could call and find out myself, but I'd rather see first if
anyone here...

Carb heat: my new policy. Any comments by
Tman
Flying a lot of 152s and 172s with carb heat lately. When inbound, I've
been taught to pull the carb heat "on" downwind, hey actually use it as
a power control to slow the plane just a bit mid-field, and then more
importantly, just leave the thing on till clear of the runway and
cleaning up. ...

FAA CIVIL RIGHTS SCAM by

This is what happens when you focus more on celebrating diversity and
promoting minorities in the FAA who have no aviation background rather
than doing your
JOB
You know the one the American people expect?

This is John Carr at his best. A classic that will deserve a nice frame
and maybe? a signed copy. This slice and dice of Bobba and the 1500
Stooges at FAA HQ(Berlin)is better than a master cook at Benihanas. I
love the quote...

Pilot makes first NVG Antarctic landing by
Ned
From CNN - A U.S. Air Force pilot has landed a plane in Antarctica in
the dark for the first time using night-vision goggles, a feat that
could lead to more supply flights to scientific bases in the frozen
continent during its dark winter months, officials said Friday.
The C-17 Globemaster...

Plane & car collide NTSB prilim by
[email protected]
The NTSB preliminary report is out: LAX08LA266 for N3156B
Though we'll probably never know, my wild guess from the description
and the fact that his last medical was in 1997 is that he opted for
one last ride while he was still able to get in the airplane.

Wheel pants by
Bob F.[_2_]
OK people. It's your check ride day and you finish your groundwork. The examiner is coming out to you, approaches the airplane and says "I see there are no wheel pants on this airplane. What notations, and where, if any are required to fly this plane legally regarding this?" What do you say?

FAA Administrator and FAA on the ropes and going broke by

Our pal Bobert Stoogel, also known as "Dead Man Walking,"
aka FAA Administrator sent another love note out to his
brick-makers the other day. I'm not sure when...I was
sunning my buns in Miami. Since Boberto often drools in
code I will give you the lowdown, with his tripe in type and
mine...

Medical question (PAD) by
Steve
I am trying to get my 3rd class medical, and have received a request for
more info from the FAA on my diagnosis of peripheral artery disease. My
condition is limited to my legs. Anyone else successfully get their medical
with this condition? Or anyone denied? Thanks.

airport cars by

Flyers,
I was reading my Pilot Getaways Mag this morning and found an article about
something I've been thinking about myself for years.
It is an internet based Airport courtesy car club. I just signed up today
because I have a POJ (piece of junk) that I keep at ACY and every time I go
there...

Flying clubs in the NY metro area by
[email protected]
I'm looking to lower my cost of flying, so thinking about joining a
flying club. Is there an up-to-date list of flying clubs in the NY
metro area somewhere. Other options I am considering are fractional
ownership.
Any inputs?
