Lumbar support ideas? by
noel.wade
All -
For the third year in a row I've somehow managed to injure my back
early in the season (base of the spine/sciatic nerve). I'm beginning
to suspect its not my day-job or rigging my ship (I have a one-man
rigger); but rather my flying and seating position in the cockpit
(DG-300). Short...

Garmin GPS 20A with Trig TT22 in Experimental Glider - OK? by
Paul Remde
Hi,
I'm gaining knowledge in ADS-B over the years. But I can't say I'm an
expert. I could use some feedback from some of the extremely knowledgeable
people that monitor this group.
I sell Trig TT22 transponders - which are FAA approved for ADS-B when used
with an approved GPS source. But...

Best Flight Of the Day NA by
Bob Youngblood
I have been looking at OLC and trying to make a determination as to had the best flight of the day in North America. Now listen, no politics here, just flight evaluation and the cut off time is midnight on the East Coast. No flaming liberals shall post. Bob

Sean Fidler
Just wondering what the timing of the next version of iGlide which will hopefully take advantage of the new iPhone 6 form factor.
I have been using iGlide more and more and really enjoy flying with it. Its UI is BY FAR the easiest.
Thanks in advance.

Bailout and survival kit by
[email protected]
I attended Dave Nadler's presentation at the 2020 SSA Convention about his bailout in Utah and its aftermath https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8I3A3dqsu0&t=3s
It got me thinking about my own preparedness, and I have to admit that I am not carrying enough on my person if I ever "have to go for...

Sean Fidler - US Team Captain by
Kevin Christner
Inquiring minds what to know if and by whom Sean Fidler was asked to be the US Team Captain.
The US Team code of conduct states the following:
13.1.5 Treatment. Fair, considerate, courteous treatment of Team Management, Team Volunteers, and members of the public.
I think we can all agree that...

High altitude flutter - Vne by
bildan
Interesting subject needs new thread.
It strikes me that a glider designed to soar in weak thermals is well
off its design point when running fast in a wave XC or, for that
matter, in strong thermal conditions. Ballast helps, of course, but
the basic airframe aerodynamics are wrong for extreme...

Winch Signals by
Nyal Williams[_2_]
Our club has yet to try winching, though a half-dozen members have
experienced it elsewhere sometime across the last fifty years.
Reading Piggot, I discover the command "All Out" for the beginning of
the launch. Is this the customary command in other places besides
England? Why this? What does...

Calculating Headwind/Tailwind component by
Ramy
Most flight computers nowadays calculate wind vector, but only few calculate headwind/tailwind component, which, in my opinion, is almost equally important, since it tells you if your glide over terrain/final glide is going to suffer or benefit from the wind component, as well as help you estimate...

XCSoar and Wind by
Dan Marotta
Hello XCSoar users. I love my XCSoar/Streak combo in my glider and I
installed a second Streak in the Pipistrel Sinus. In the Sinus there is
no computer/GPS to feed the Streak and so the XCSoar relies on the
internal GPS of the Streak. With the solo setup, I never see winds.
I've flown...
