Warning: GPS data incorrect by
Cheetah236
Thought I'd better share this as others might be flying approaches
using the newest Jepp database for the Northstar M3 Approach GPS.
I downloaded the newest Northern Hemisphere database using Skybound USB
just prior to going for an Instrument Proficiency Check. The examiner
had me fly the GPS-B...

Warning, Missing GPS airport data in cycle 0510 by
John Clonts
FYI.
I noticed that some airports are not showing up in the "nearest
airport" list on my King KLN-94. Then I noticed that it didn't show on
the map page either. But if I go to the airport page and explicitly
key in the identifier, it does show the airport information. E.g. KMKN
I corresponded...

Warm spot for IFR finish-up by
Dave Reinhart
I'm looking for suggestions for a school to do an IFR finish-up course
in December or January. I live in Massachusetts and while I don't mind
flying actual IFR there's entirely too much ice in the clouds around
here that time of year. A break from the winter chill wouldn't be bad,
either.

Wanted: VFR Safety Pilot near Milwaukee, WI - Cheap flying for you by
Paul Folbrecht
I'm an instrument student looking for another pilot to fly with to allow
me to log sim instrument time. You could be another instrument student
or possibly just someone looking to build XC time.
I own a '79 Cessna 152 based at MWC (Timmerman) and I will charge my
co-pilot nothing more than 1/2...

WAC vs Sectional by
[email protected]
I currently subscribe to the Airchart IFR and sectional service. I was
looking at changing to the WAC and IFR service.
What exactly is the difference between the WAC and sectional charts?
Do the WACs show all the MOAs/restricted/etc areas? Are all the same
airports listed?
Thanks

WAAS GPS equipment suffix in a RNAV flight plan ? by
jbskies
Question:
I read the latest LTA (letter to airman, 2008/06/19) for the latest
RNAV flight plan. In the last paragraph, it says
"It is important to communicate your maximum RNAV capability so the
filer can enter information which allows FAA automation to generate
RNAV arrival and departure routes...

WAAS for GNS 430/530? by
Dane Spearing
According to Garmin's product literature, the GNS 430 and 530 are
"WAAS-upgradeable", yet there is no information as to when this
upgrade might be available. Does anyone have any other information
on this?

WAAS Airport Costs? by
[email protected]
I have the ear of some local government development people, who are
contemplating upgrading some airports. Money is tight, so an ILS is
probably not under consideration. So, I want to recommend to them
checking into a WAAS installation. Does anyone know what the prices of
such equipment for an...

VOR/DME Approach Question by
Chip Jones
I'm hoping one or more of you instrument pilots (or controllers) could help
me with an IAP question. The airport involved is RKW, which is Rockwood,
Tennessee. The IAP in question is the VOR/DME RWY 22 into Rockwood. If you
have the plate or know the procedure, I hope you can help me out.

VOR volume range by
kevmor
I was looking at the L1/L2 chart between RBL (Red Bluff) and SAC
(Sacramento). The change over point is at GRIDD because the airway
changes direction slightly. The only thing is, it shows the DME
distance to GRIDD from SAC as being 55nm. If I'm below 14,500, don't
all VORs have a service volume...

VOR technigue, don't overshoot by
tscottme
There are a couple of techniques I've never been particularly good at while
flying, proper rudder work, and smooth turn onto a VOR radial without over
or undershooting the needle. What's a good way to smoothly know when to
start a standard rate turn onto the heading to intercept a VOR/GPS...

Vor kaput by

On one of my $100.00 hamburger flights my VOR-Glideslope went in op.
Worked fine until I landed then at take of it would not register. I visually
checked the antenna, but every thing seemed to be OK. That afternoon I flew to
my avionics shop for a check up. Of course my plane is due for the 24...
