Club Class Gliders by
Sam Giltner[_1_]
DG news letter, Winter maintenance
If you don't specifically ask, the inspector doing the annual will
probably not do a complete lubrication of all bearings. It really
doesn't matter if a particular bearing is lubricated only every other or
even third year but if a control system doesn't get...

Wendezeiger needle/ball repair by
Brad[_2_]
I have a Wendezeiger needle/ball gyro that does not work anymore. I am
wondering if there might be a repair station that still works on these
instruments. It is quite old, it came out of my Austria I bought
several years ago.
Thanks,
Brad

UPDATE on "is it ever just plug and play?" by
John Bojack[_2_]
And the answer is..............................NO!
Due to time constraints caused by the forces of nature conspiring to occupy
all my free time (things like work, etc....) I showed up at the Union Pier
Terminal in Charleston all happy and with visions of LS-10's dancing in my
head.
That all...

hydrotesting by
Raphael Warshaw
Does anyone know of a place in northern New Jersey, southern New York
or eastern Pennsylvania that will hydrotest a carbon filament-wrapped
oxygen bottle (MH part number 480). The best solution I've found so
far is to ship it back to Mountain High with a 3 week turn-around.
Thanks,
Ray...

Full Stalls Power Off by
w3n-a
http://w3n-a.blogspot.com/2008/12/full-stalls-power-off.html
The practice of power-off stalls is usually performed with normal
landing approach conditions in simulation of an accidental stall
occurring during landing approaches. Airplanes equipped with flaps and/
or retractable landing gear should...

Important UPDATES on Fossett's accident #711 reporting by
[email protected]
I just recieved an email from Dr. Jack. The new blipmaps with
higher resolution have been reproduced from the data on Sept. 3, 2007
are far superior and trump the ruc model shown on my Blog. The privacy
rights are of no longer any concern and will be released shortly.
The RUC blipmap on my...

Ruth Gimmey by
Cliff Hilty[_2_]
Does anyone have a contact e-mail or phone for Ruth Gimmey? (I assume the
wife of Ray Gimmey) I was told that she may have SCUM t-shirts or know
where to get them.

Steve Fossett by
bumper
Discovery HD Channel is airing a special on Steve Fossett next Monday at
10PM eastern 7PM PST. They took footage of my Husky flying along the eastern
flank of the Sierra, as it's blue and white and "sort of like" the plane
Steve was flying.
For the interview part, I got them to set up with one...

Soaring, Cryptography and Nuclear Weapons by
Hellman
What could soaring possibly have in common with nuclear weapons? To
find out, read my new article "Soaring, Cryptography and Nuclear
Weapons" at
http://www.nuclearrisk.org/soaring_article.php
If nuclear weapons are too much of a turn off, take a look at the
related lecture on flying safety which...

Motorglider Definition by
Doug Hoffman
In a Yahoo group, MinimalistAirplaneStudyGroup, it has been asserted
that a homebuilt aircraft registered as experimental can be registered
as a motorglider, regardless of wingspan and gross weight capacity.
For example, one could build something like the 18 foot wingspan, 550
pound maximum...

Soaring around Bay Area early Feb by
Torsten Beyer
Hi all,
I am German glider pilot and will be working in the Bay Area early Feb
of 2009. As I will have one free weekend (most likely the weekend of the
7th) I thought I'll check out soaring possibilities.
Now it's highly unlikely that I will have my German license transferred
to a US...

Soaring in UAE? by

Anyone here know if there is any soaring activity in the United Arab
Emirates or Dubai? A local friend thinks I should go over there and
start a soaring school. He's a real nice guy but I take his ideas
with a grain of salt. That said, he does know a lot of folks there
and thinks they would not...
