1343 NM to the NASM Udvar-Hazy Center and back... by
Jay Honeck
It was to be just another fly-in. Only difference was, it was being held
700 miles away, under some of the most restrictive airspace in the world, at
the world's premier aviation museum, and it was by invitation only.
Nervous? Us? Nevah! :-)
When Margy Natalie invited us to fly into the...

14 takeoffs = 14 approaches - Video by
[email protected]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9liCim6VHNg
Systems check on the airplane so I figure to remain near the airport
therefore why not do some pattern work.
Couldn't say I did 14 landings however. Winds at pattern altitude was
a tail wind and winds below the treeline were a headwind. Needless
to...

Does anybody out there know the 14 yr old boy or his parents from
Rainsville Ala who managed to get a small plane up into the air last

141 school stuff by
Steven Barnes
Here's a (hopefully) on topic question:
My CFI is trying to get approved for 141 'status' to do some accelerated
training for people desiring the 141 path. I'm hoping to help him out with
some of the students as my schedule permits. I'd like to be helpful in the
setup/paperwork that goes along with...

141 Schools by
RC_Moonpie
Many of you may not know these places by the phrase "141 school" so I
will give you some great ways to spot them. If the school is a
university flight department, if the name includes the word Academy, or
if their ad says anything that refers to training pilots for an airline
position it is a...

16 year old steals a plane by
Jeff
This happened last night at an airport near us. Stupid mistake for a kid
who dreams of flying one day.
There is a link to the full video on the page too.

16th Annual Moonlight Ball to benefit the Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum by
Jason[_2_]
The 16th Annual Moonlight Ball is coming in April 2007. This is a
major fund raiser for the museum. Our goal is to raise enough money
for an additional hangar to protect the aircraft that are currently
stored outside.
Feel free to share this message with anyone you think might...

17-year cicadas of any concern to aircraft? by
Peter R.
As a relatively newly-certificated pilot (two years ago), I am curious
about the upcoming emergence of the seventeen-year cicada in the northeast
and midwest US later this May.
Are there any hazards to aircraft associated with these insects, either on
the ground or in the air?

172 / 182RG by
[email protected]
In reality, what do you guys see as typical cruise speeds for the
172R
(1997 standard equip)?
What about the R182 Skylane RG (1978 vintage, constant speed prop)?
I ask cause it never seems to me to be what is in the AIM or POH (I
got seriously *limited* experience on this)

172 N Climb Performance by
Roger Long
Climbing at the speeds given in the Cessna POH for our 172 N are not a
particularly good idea. The nose is so high that the view of any traffic
ahead is pretty well obscured. 80 knots provides visibility sufficient to
see even some aircraft that may be climbing to your altitude. The engine
stays...

172 N to 172 S transition by
Roger Long
My flying club is going to trade our 172 N (only airplane) in next spring
for a 2 -3 year old 172 S or SP. We'll be moving up from a very simple
VOR - Loran panel to GPS and possibly autopilot. I can't imagine that we
can just put a new plane like that, with fuel injection, boost pump, etc.

180 pilots and 12 planes by
buttman
http://www.bestaviation.net/jobs/airline.asp?ID=24
Acording to this website, Gemini Air Cargo has 180 pilots employed, but
only 12 planes in their fleet. Is this typical? That seems like a TON
of people for so very few planes...
