FAA CIVIL RIGHTS SCAM by
XXX
This is what happens when you focus more on celebrating diversity and
promoting minorities in the FAA who have no aviation background rather
than doing your
JOB
You know the one the American people expect?

San Fernando Valley by
xxx
It looks like I'll be moving to the San Fernando Valley.
I don't know exactly where I'll be living but I expect to
have reasonable access to VNY, WHB and BUR. I'm looking for
recommendations, postive or negative, for airports, FBO's,
clubs, etc. I'm a private pilot with no professional...

SoCal and aenemic airplanes by

So I finished the instrument rating, which was indeed no fun at all and
am in the process of completing the move to LA. Already accomplished is
picking up low-altitude and sectional charts.
What I see is that for a lot of trips out of the LA area, the sort of
airplanes I normally rent can't get...

PIREP Lowrance 600c by

PIREP Lowrance 600c
The trip up the central valley (see PIREP SCK, posted earlier today)
was the first time I had occasion to make use of the Lowrance 600c I
bought a few months back.
It works. That's the good news. With the external antenna sitting on
the glare shield, it pretty much...

Portable GPS by
xxx
I've been thinking of buying an aviation-specific handheld GPS to
replace the little hiker's model I've been using. NW_pilot's saga has
convinced me that a good unit really can be a life saver.
Any recent pireps on the new models?
Lowrance 600c does seem to give the most performance for the...

Good day from a Newby South African Student Pilot by
Xonix
Hi everyone, thanks for a great NewsGroup! I have recently started off
my Pilot career(having had a dream to fly for about 20 years)! Well,
with just 19 hours in my brand-new logbook and my first solo-flight
only 3 days ago, I am really excited and ready to go. (I have another
lesson in about 2...

a traditional Thanksgiving meal by

Airplane Batteries by
[email protected]
I am a new airplane owner (since May). My mechanic replaced my battery
last June. No choices, I figured he bought the one it needed.
Just serviced it (added water). It's in a REALLY awkward spot to get at
and see inside the cells -- on the floor under the instrument panel of a
plane with no doors...

Bonanza Down in AZ by

CBS noon news reported the crash of a Bonanza out of the Lufthansa

yr-old woman, here from Germany since December, with 49 total hours, 5+
solo hours, on what was supposed to be an hour-long solo flight. No
emergency radio calls...

Arrow Starter Problem by

Writing for a friend with an Arrow that is having a recurring starter
problem. The battery has been charged and tested, everything else checks
out, and there is the right amount of voltage at the starter. It works
once or twice (in a row), then if left overnight, it won't restart (no
response from...

Oil Coolers by
[email protected]
In October, after an extensive repair/restoration of my airplane, the
oil cooler split on start-up and dumped most of the oil. Long story, but
the engine seized up 6 minutes into the flight and we did an emergency
landing in the desert. We were very fortunate to walk away with minor
injuries,...

VFR Sectional Mural by

Our airport terminal has a VFR Sectional Mural of the United States,

can't find such a product. Does anyone know if it exists or where to
find it?

After Annual ... by

Finally picking up my airplane tomorrow after a 2-month annual. Just
bought it in April. It is a '61, and despite logbook entries that SAY
annuals have been done every year, it was pretty clear the majority of
stuff under the cowl hadn't been touched in a LONG time. Picking it up
tomorrow. Along...

ICOM A23 Transformer Specs by

Would someone please give me the specs for the AC-DC transformer for
