California Snow In June by
RST Engineering
Admittedly it was mostly hail, but there was some snow (sneaux for Darryl)
mixed in with it.

CAM BEARINGS & CRANKCASE SEALING by
[email protected]
TO ALL (!! -- A 'Must Read' for all Engine Builders)
It is NOT 'string' it is SILK. More specifically, it is #50 THREAD,
although I have seen a German-born, factory-trained mechanic spinning
free a few STRANDS from silk embroidery thread. This method applies
ONLY to the crankcase's EXTERIOR...

Camera vibration mount. by
[email protected]
Just tried to take a video today of my flight and used about 1" of
foam under the camera to hold it down. It does ok to absorb actual
frame vibrations but not the jiggles (potholes) on the taxiway and
other sudden shocks which send the camera rattling on the soft foam.
Any suggestions for material...

Camloc Installation Tools by
jls
Anybody ever made any of these? The pliers would be easy to make. The
drill jig is $475, the dimpling tools about $300 apiece, and the lockwasher
tool $100. Anybody ever make any of these, or are they patented? If they
are patented, maybe that explains the exorbitant prices.
I made and...

Campers on the North 40-warning! by
JohnT.
Just saw this snippet on the Airventure website-the Piggly Wiggly near
the north 40 has closed!
If you depend on this store for your groceries, you better make
alternate plans or look at the list of other stores EAA has provided
(look at airventure.org, then camping, then aircraft camping).

Camping at OSH by
COROSS2
I am planning to attend Airventure for the first time this year. I thought I'd
drive up the morning of the 27th and camp for 3 nights. Is it likely I will be
able to get a site at that time? How are the facilities?
Thx
Chris

Can anyone ID this homebuilt? by
JLB
I have a slideshow screen saver where you can easily add your own pictures.
Every time I find a picture on the internet that strikes my fancy, I save it
so that it will show up as part of the slide show. One of my favorite
topics is light aircraft, since I do have a PP-ASEL.
There is one...

Can I build one of you items? by
Gig 601XL Builder
I'm getting closer to the point where I will be working on the panel of my
601XL and I need to ask you a question. I have little to know electronics
experience. Of course I'd never had any metal working experience and I think
I'm doing a pretty good job on my plane.
So the question is how much...

Can I fly it at night? by

I have a 1941 Chief with lights on it. There's one light on
each wingtip and one on the top of the fin. There's no
anticollision light/strobe or landing light. There are
wires from the 3 position lights to the cockpit, where they
end. The engine has no alternator or generator and never
has had...
