Fiberglass Tip Tanks Question by
Jay Honeck
Got a problem here, and I'm wondering if anyone else has run into it before.
Five years ago (or so) the previous owner of our Cherokee 235 repainted the
fiberglass wingtip tanks.
Apparently he had an automotive body shop do the fiberglass work, and around
the filler necks they used a fiberglass...

Composite Workshop/Fly-Market - Marietta, GA by
Kyle Boatright
On Saturday, September 27, EAA 268 is putting on a fly-market and composite
workshop "under the control tower" at McCollum field in Marietta,GA.
The composite workshop will be fairly basic, and should give someone the
kick in the pants necessary to make his/her own fairings or to repair...

Flying with fuel leak? by
Roger Long
I was looking over the web site of a flying club that posts the minutes of
their meetings. One item said that fuel was running out of the wing of
their 172 when the flaps were fully extended because the overflow drain was
broken. They asked that the tanks not be completely filled until this...

Cessna 182: How can I fix cracks in tailcone bulkhead? by
Robert Bullock
Is there a doubler kit for the repair? This is the bulkead that holds the
rudder on and also that the tailcone screws on to. 1962 Cessna 182E.
The cracks are around the area where the rudder stops hit the screws mounted
in the bulkhead.
I hope that I don't have to buy a new one and a doubler can...

C210 fuel tank vents by
Eric Brown
I've owned a C210 for about a year now and have noticed that my fuel vents,
and primarily the left one, seem to be leaking a larger amount of fuel at
full tanks than previously. A more experienced C210 owner told me that each
of the wing tip vents has a check valve between the vent outlet and the...

AOA - Aviation Oil Analysis Results Missing? by
George Sconyers
Has anyone had trouble with getting the results back reliably from oil
analysis samples they have been sending in to AOA? I do analysis every time
I change my oil but my sample has just been "lost" for the 3rd time in 4
years (lost twice in the last 2 years). At about a 70% success rate...

I like my privatized airport :) by
Byron Miller
I have been learning to fly and hanging out at KLNS (Lancaster PA) for
years, and it has been a privatized airport tower ever since i've known
about it.
Nicest controllers, safe airport and friendly skies. They're not any more
incompetant than a "guvenment" controller and most certainly they...

F/A-18 for sale in Kansas by
mah
First, I normally reside in rec.av.mil. Hopefully I'm not violating the
group charter by asking my question here.
Several months ago someone offered an F/A-18 fuselage for sale on Ebay.
If I recall correctly it was in Olathe KS. A hard drive crash lost the
seller's name from my bookmarks. Does...

Chicken or the Egg? Hangar or Plane first? by
Carl Orton
Hi, All;
Seriously considering first purchase of an aircraft. In no rush. I'm
curious, though.... If you're in the plane-buying mood, when do you get the
hangar/t-hangar/tie-down? Before you sign or as a condition of sale? Do most
folks selling aircraft agree to wait until you can line up a...

Piper doors, why the passenger side? by
Nathan Young
First off, this isn't a post to argue the merits of one-door vs.
two-doors, so if you want to do that, start your own thread... :)
Why does Piper put the door of the plane on the passenger side? I
cannot think of one good reason. Would like to hear the group's
opinions.
OTOH, I can think of...

Warrior Strobe Tube Replacement by
Jerry Malin
Gang:
One of the wingtip strobes on our 1982 Warrior II looks like it is going
bad. Half of it looks black and it only gives one blink per second while the
other wing gives two blinks per second.
I was perusing the Whelen catalog, and our strobe lamp assembly appears to
have a pigtail terminating...

Polishing your prop? by
Jay Honeck
Is polishing your prop legal?
Now that we've got ours almost done, of course one of our airport wags
mentioned that it might not be acceptable -- despite the fact that every
10th plane you see has one.

OMF Aircraft - any experience? by
Ross Rehfeld
The upcoming OMF-4 looks like a lot of plane at a whole lot less than a 182.
Anyone have thoughts on how they like their current OMF planes?
Thanks,
Ross Rehfeld
