timing holds by

What does it mean when they say you start timing the outbound leg of

can see either, but not both, so I don't understand...

My Approach and Landing Files by
A Lieberman
If anybody is interested, I have shared out a folder on my computer to
access some approaches and landings I have done in the past 2 months. All
files are in .avi format. The larger files are shot in high resolution, so
it does look real nice in full screen in Windows media.
You will need a...

I have the Jeppesen chip updating via the web for my 430. I just updated and
installed the new data which is Dec 25 to Jan 22. Then I got to wondering if
that chip is legal to use before the start date. Anybody know?

Going for my Multiengine rating by
Kobra
Flyers,
For absolutely no reason, except that I want it, I have been taking
Multiengine lessons (including Multi-Instrument and Commercial). The flight
school has a Piper Seneca I (PA34-200) circa 1973.
It fly's like a flying Bulldozer on Codeine (sp?). It's a beast...really.
The controls...

AF/D's and NOTAM by
Andrew Sarangan
I am curious how many of you routinely consult the AF/D prior to every
IFR flight. The reason is, a well known FAA inspector at a recent
safety seminar commented that those little green books were not of
much use anymore, and that most pilots simply don't use them. I was
surprised, because I've...

Military Airfield Procedures.. by
Dan
Last night I took a quick trip to KYUM. On approach, the controller
mentioned that the "arresting gear was up" on the runway I was to land
on. Being unfamiliar with arresting gear and flying an Archer, I asked
the controller specifically what that meant. He indicated that it
consisted of a cable...

Passed CFI Knowledge Test by
Kobra
Flyers,
I just passed the CFI Knowledge test today but I have some questions for the
group. Sure I could look these up, but lets stimulation some discussion.
Here are some questions that I do not know if I answered correctly. The
verbiage may not be word-for-word but you should get the idea:

Holding at CHS by
Stuart King
Finally got a real hold...never had one before.
Held for 25min over CHS at 3000ft waiting my turn to do the VOR approach
into JZI...OVC008.9SM
didn't expect it, but it really was no big deal.
They gave plenty of explanation and warning when to expect the approach.
Just interesting, hardly...

Transiting KCLE Class B by
dutch
I have a fairly new Instrument Rating and need to fly my (non-turbo) Arrow
from Chicago to Binghamton NY.
The most efficient dry route appears to be V6 via Dryer, but that takes me
right through the middle of the Cleveland Class B. Is this likely to be
accepted as filed, or am I likely to get...

Pirep: Garmin Pilot My-Cast by

Thought this might help before you try it.
After much frustration with my AnywhereMap XM weather downloads, I
went looking for a new source of in-flight weather information. I
have had it with the lack of reliablilty with the XM data downloads,
and didn't want to break the bank, either, going...

Garmin Data Cards by
Brad Salai
Does anyone know the format of the data cards for the GNS 530? Our club is
putting them in our small fleet, and we are considering buying extra data
cards to make the updates easier. The Garmin price seems high. If these are
standard cards, we may be able to do better elsewhere. Anyone have...

Connecting a GNS 430/530 to a PC by
PA34 F-GFTF
Hi,
It seems most handheld GPS can be connected to a computer (through a serial
cable, IIRC).
That allows some cool features, like preparing your flightplan in advance on
your PC, or downloading to the PC the actual positions of your aircraft in
order to obtain a chart of the actual flight...

Need Antenna Cable for ICOM Handheld by
L. R. Du Broff
I have an ICOM handheld for backup.
I have a panel-mounted ICOM connector, ICOM part no. ANTSB.
The ANTSB is a splitter, in series with the coax that connects the COM-1
radio to its antenna. On the front of the ANTSB is a 3.5 mm female jack.
When a 3.5 mm male is plugged into this jack, the...
