Oleo Struts by
xerxes
Probably a silly question, but what are the pros and cons of air Vs
Nitrogen filling of the oleo struts. Just how much of a problem would be
the humidity be if they are filled with air. Given the environmental
temperatures would probably never get below freezing
Its for a Cherokee 235. Also...

OMF Aircraft - any experience? by
Ross Rehfeld
The upcoming OMF-4 looks like a lot of plane at a whole lot less than a 182.
Anyone have thoughts on how they like their current OMF planes?
Thanks,
Ross Rehfeld

On one Mag? Temptation and decision by
Terry
Yesterday was an unusual day here in Ohio for December so I decided to
get my badly needed flying "fix". Clear skies, smooth air and a
planned trip to southern Ohio and back to home base (DLZ). Onboard was
myself PIC and wife. The usual pre-flight and run-up everything normal.
After reaching...

On The Subject of Choke-Removal, Continental Engines by
N. Shane
I am completing a top overhaul on a 200 hour "Re-Manufacture" by Chuck
Ney Enterprises.
The former owner had this process done, and the engine was given a
fresh logbook.
If you are wondering about the reliability of such engines, ponder the
possibility of having to replace all the cylinders at...

One door by
PaulaJay1
Had a potentially bad experience in my Archer tonight. Wife and I flew to
dinner and returned to the home port about 5:20. Airport normally is open till
sunset (which is 5:07 tonight) but as we taxied in, the lights in their cars
went out and they came walking to my plane. I store in the big...

One of those 'never again" sort of things... by
kontiki
not a dramatic story, but one worth telling...
I was flying my bird over to another airport for the annual. Was
planning on replacing the right fuel cell so at the end of the
previous flight I topped off the left side only (figured I'd burn
off the rest on the way over there). Lo and behold I...

One step closer to owning an Arrow by
Jack Allison
My partners and I have a verbal offer on a '70 Arrow. We're working on
getting it down in writing but, so far, things look pretty good.
Biggest issue right now is getting the pre-buy scheduled and having SB
1006, the wing spar corrosion service bulletin, performed.
I'm planning to fly back to...

One thing leads to another... by
Jay Honeck
Did you ever notice that fixing one thing often seem to break something else
in the old airplanes most of us fly?
We just had our new Directional Gyro installed today (just six weeks after
our Attitude Indicator failed), and lo and behold, our autopilot works
again! The gyros erect immediately,...

Ongoing Arrow alternator/charging problem by
Chuck
Hi everyone,
This group seems especially knowledgable, I hope you don't mind a
question about a friend's plane.
Its a 78 Arrow and is being used by a FBO for training. For the last
month or so, they can't seem to keep the battery charged. Started a
month ago and the alternator was found not...

Online cost of airplane ownership spreadsheet by
Ben Jackson
For a long time I've been meaning to convert my cost of ownership
spreadsheet into a web page. Over the weekend I wrote a rudimentary
sc-to-html converter (sc is an ancient, terminal based spreadsheet).
http://ben.com/flying/costown.html
I've already filled the page with caveats and disclaimers...
