Dust in the Wind - Video by
[email protected]
I dedicated my last couple of flights (as well as a flight
commercially) to really, and really enjoy the privilege of viewing the
clouds from the top down and that's what my latest video has been
focused on. Images and videos are from the past three weeks.
Video doesn't do the magic of flight...

MD-80 split elevators by
tscottme[_2_]
Anyone know why the elevators on MD-80s, while parked or taxiing on the
ground, are almost always split? By that I mean the elevator on the left
side is up and elevator on right side of rudder is down. I don't recall
seeing thie elevators split left/down and right/up and I don't recall 737s...

WAAS GPS equipment suffix in a RNAV flight plan ? by
jbskies
Question:
I read the latest LTA (letter to airman, 2008/06/19) for the latest
RNAV flight plan. In the last paragraph, it says
"It is important to communicate your maximum RNAV capability so the
filer can enter information which allows FAA automation to generate
RNAV arrival and departure routes...

ICAO Flight Plans - RNAV/RNP?? by
Dan[_1_]
All,
I am trying to figure out how to complete the ICAO information on
fltplan.com for filing a flightplan for a C182 with a Garmin 530W.
The RNAV/RNP stuff has me confused. What would the proper answers be
for an aircraft with a 530W? How about a standard Garmin 430?
I've searched high and low...

Iis there a weather chart with cloud base and tops depicted? by
Terence Wilson
Here in the San Francisco Bay Area we've had coastal clouds in the
mornings with ceilings in the 1000-2000 range recently, 10-20 miles
west of Oakland the clouds dissipate completely. I was wondering
weather there exists a reliable way of determining the cloud tops
(other than PIREPs).

I've had it. by
Bob Gardner
I hate cross-posting, but just this once I will give in to the temptation.
The rec.aviation newsgroups have become useless. There is very little "meat"
in the postings...sushidot is about the only poster interested in learning
anything. If anyone is looking for me, I hang out in the AOPA Forum,...

My flight to Greenville MS yesterday. ILS approach 18 left with 2100
foot ceilings and a visual back to Madison..

Interesting approach to say the least. Note the ground speed on
final. 200 feet AGL winds were right off the nose at 35 knots which

Trouble filing IFR to Canadian Airports by
Andrew Sarangan
I've made this flight many times before and never encountered this
before. I filed from my home airport (MGY) to PT(which is an NDB) to
CYKZ using DUATS. Everything went fine. When I called for my
clearance, they didn't have anything on me. So I departed VFR, and
tried calling again. Still no luck....

Any ideas on firm to use for IPC...within 3 flight hours of Salt LakeCity by

I am out of currency on my IFR flying and wanted to go to an intensive

extensively. I fly a Piper Turbo Saratoga.
I've heard is a good school in Vegas and thought the pilot said it was
flight safety but I called Flight Safety today...

Flying Mag Clueless about LPV and NACO by

Anyone else pick up the bit in the May issue where the editor and
Richard Collins slam NACO's charting of LPV IAPs, yet those guys are
clueless about the NACO designation of the P-FAF with their traditional
lightening bolt?

r.a.ifr barely alive by
M[_1_]
Back in 1998 when I got my rating, rec.aviation.ifr was beaming with
activities. There were at least a dozen new threads getting posted
every day.
Where is everybody? I know GA flying is down but the traffic drop in
r.a.ifr is a lot worse than say r.a.piloting. Maybe we all became
dumber after...
