Site: comments welcome by Toly
Hi folx, First, Happy New Year to all! I need a favor from you, please. I have cooked up a site which I hope you'll find useful. It's www.copilots.net and is designed to let interested pilots find each other and fly together. It's free and I have no hidden interest or gimmicks to go with it...

Speed of Heat by vlado
Is there a rule of thumb for 'speed of heat'? Meaning the speed in knots where ice will not form on the leading edges of a wing. For example, the Saberliner had no de-ice or anti-ice system, just speeding up would remove or prevent ice build up. Thanks.

New Angel Flight NE Reqs by Marco Leon
Just a heads up to the northeast pilots interested in Angel Flight. Just got a call informing me that the new requirements as of January 1, 2006 is 250 hours PIC. It's no longer just the 300 hours total time. I'm about 15 hours short of that so I'll be put in the system pending the hours and...

Paragliding crash by Aviv Hod
I just ran across a fascinating video of a paragliding pilot that gets into trouble, makes the right decision and gets on the ground safely with his reserve. Things sometimes go very wrong in the air, so for all their contraversy, I for one would love to have a similar option and have BRS style...

Healing for the soul... by Jay Honeck
Those who have seen the movie "One Six Right" know how perfectly the film's director melded video and music into a seamless, majestic representation of flight. Since the very first time I saw the movie -- and I've watched it a dozen times since -- when I hear the opening bars of that theme song my...

Excel Worksheet and Chart by Paul
I'm currently working at creating an Excel file on my Palm that would allow me to easily calculate the distances for take off and landing on my 172 for every situation... Does anyone of you use this kind of file (with a chart) for the "weight and balance"? Would it be possible to have a copy or an...

BFR, Debonair checkout, under 2 hours, YEAH! by Ricky
A few years since I've flown but I suppose my CFI friend couldn't tell. I've flown a Beech Debonair but it's been around 15 years ago as a student at Le Tourneau University. I got acquainted with a CFI who's a friend of a friend who said he'd be able to give me all the ground and flight...

Near miss / hit with a bird on an ILS approach - Video by [email protected]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pLRwgW9HrY I was with another pilot who is beginning IA training so I figured to shoot an approach so she could see what it entails. If I had to estimate, about 15 to 20 feet difference between me and a large bird sharing the same airspace.while on short...

Angel Flight and Part 91 by Dave Butler
This is a 2-parter: (1) I know there is a waiver or Chief Counsel's opinion or something that allows pilots without a commercial pilot rating, flying under Part 91, to carry Angel Flight passengers in a way that would otherwise be prohibited. I know I've seen such a document on the web somewhere,...

WG: Weiterl.: nice little VIRUS by Walter Kronester
The Screen saver, which is appended to the above message, contains the Virus W32.netsky.B@mm This virus replicates itself by sending mails (like the above) to everybody on the adress list of the infected system. I wonder what Karin says when she realizes, that her system has been infected.

getting FAA paperwork by Cub Driver
Would a few of you do me a favor? Test this url: http://tinyurl.com/ywsm and tell me if it takes you to the FAA page for purchasing records of an airplane? (It works for me, but I wonder if that's because the FAA has put a cookie on my computer.)
