So long, Tim Donovan by T8
Tragic news this morning from Ephrata (18m Nats). The word is that Tim's glider "entered an uncontrolled flight condition at about 7000' from which he not recover. The airframe broke up in flight and Tim died instantly from the resulting impact." The accident is obviously under...

Soaring Aids Variometer by Tony Condon[_2_]
I have an old Soaring Aids variometer that I am installing in the Cherokee. It has ports on the back for static/TE and capacity flasks. They are not labeled. One is red and the other is green. Any ideas on which is which? Thanks! -Tony Condon Cherokee II N373Y

Tim - Easy enough I suppose. when I first got the Cherokee it had an old Crossfeld electric vario in it. the audio part didnt work. Either the flask or the battery was hooked up backwards and when I was in lift it showed down and when I was in sink it showed lift. Also, the scale was way off. ...

Information about a TL3424 RAS instrument by Eric Greenwell
For what purpose do you wish to log speed and acceleration? Have you looked at any of the model airplane loggers that can do this? Someone wrote: It seems to be quite difficult to get information about this instrument. I wrote the company but unfortunately they are not responding. It's...

Celebrate your Freedom to Fly by [email protected][_2_]
Several months ago, AOPA launched a program aimed at the general public to improve the image of General Aviation. Harrison Ford agreed to help us launch this program, and to date, it has proven very successful. We started by focusing on GA's impact on the economy. Now we're cahnging our focus to...

HP IPAQ Backlighting "Feature" Issue and Fix by ContestID67[_2_]
With Paul Remde's assistance I just fixed an issue with a "problem" I had with my HP IPAQ 2215 (2210). You might want to know about this. My problem was that the unit would not power on when using battery power. On AC (or cradle) it was OK. I thought it was a battery issue. I thought that the...

RF vario interference by ryanglover1969
I have a little problem that has been discussed here before. Every time I press my push to talk my vario freaks out. I have a Dittel FSG 2T radio and an LX 1600 vario. We typically fly on 123.5 or 123.3. any Ideas on how to get rid of the interference? Any help will be appreciated.

If I had one of these ...... http://www.batterystuff.com/solar-chargers/ ......would I be able to fly continously without ever removing the battery and charging it overnight? I figured there's alot of smart folks on here who have already thought this through!

Move FSX airport that's in wrong location by Ray[_6_]
My favorite gliderport to fly from in real life (79N, Ridge Soaring in Unionville, Pennsylvania, USA) is incorrectly located in FSX. The gliderport is placed about 300 yds too far NW. This puts the whole thing on the wrong side of the adjacent highway, and projects the airport part way into some...
