Question about rivets and riveting.... by
gregg
Hi all,
I am a complete newbie to the world of riveting. I have to do some and I
know nothing about it.
It *IS* aircraft related, though not directly. I'd appreciate any help I
could get:
I am refurbishing a old P-series flight helmet. They had leather oxygen
mask tabs, with snaps, on the sides...

how roll fuselage/engine package by
Dick
Having a "better G" idea, decided to hang my engine on M1 fuselage without
wings in order to have the ability to roll it outside the hanger for breakin
efforts.
After struggling with several versions of a wooden framed, wheeled "wagon",
a thought occurred that I may be "reinventing the wheel"...

MOGAS availability database by
[email protected]
Being a Rotax 912s driver, and being as how the Rotax prefers premium
automobile fuel, I have been searching for places that serve automobile gas
that are accessable to airplanes. I'm not having much luck.
So, does anyone know of a database that tracks availability of MOGAS for
aviation...

Forget Turbodyne by
Max Kallio
It appears that Turbodyne was a stock market hoax to attract
investors. So, it´s a goner, but the idea on an electronically
assisted turbocharger definetely is not.

Avid Flyer by
OtisWinslow
I'm looking for some input. I'm considering selling my Piper and buying an
Avid. I
seldom do more than just local flying and could do it a lot cheaper. Not
having
been involved with Experimental before I'm looking for comments on this
plane.
I know a couple people who've had them and enjoyed them....

Anyone here built or familiar with the Cozy? by
MudFlap
I've been doing a lot of research and I think I really like the design of this aircraft. I've got a very strong mechanical background, and I'm currently going thru A&P school. I've never worked with composites, though. Is it really a plane that someone without much aircraft or building...

Electric motor assisted super- or turbocharger? by
Max Kallio
2-stroke diesels need compressed air for starting the engine, so the
turbo (exhaust driven centrifugal supercharger) is out of a guestion
and it produces very little boost at low rpm anyhow.
How about supplementing a centrifugal turbocharger with a high speed
electric motor to create boost needed...

BD-5 or similar? by
Mark Zivley
I've been to the bd-micro web site. I'm not really that serious about starting
on that sort of a project, but it sure looks like fun. Just wondering if there
are any other kits out there which are mostly aluminum and perhaps a bit more
forgiving in the air.
Thanks,
Mark

Rogue's Gallery Update -- Talk about diversity! by
Jay Honeck
Wow. When we started the Rogue's Gallery -- a webpage where aviation
newsgroup aficionados can post pictures of our aircraft, in an effort to get
to know one another better -- I had no idea this thing would eventually grow
to encompass 32 different makes of aircraft!
More amazingly, within those...

Mogas and Peltier effect by
anaconda
I'm building an RV, and am considering using mogas, or at least having the
option of using it. Problem is that mogas has a higher vapor pressure (among
other anomalies), and this in turn can cause vapor lock. Routing of the fuel
lines is quite important, as well as the proper cooling of the...

182 questions by
Paul Anton
I am hoping to tap some of the expertise here to solve a problem I have run
into.
I am a retired guy who was called by a local Part 141 school to fill in as
their flightline mechanic until they could find a permanent A&P. They have
an early 182RG (serial 141) that has an ongoing electrical...
