McCoy Mac1700 by

I have one of these in my plane. For over a month, I cannot figure
out how to program it, and my plane comes with no documentation on
this radio. Can anyone hlep? Thanks in advance.

Another who pays question by
Viperdoc[_4_]
Had a major radio install on my Baron- a Garmin 530W and 430W. As part of
the install the avionics shop moved the radar display.
On the trip home (the same trip where in IMC the alternator quit) I turned
the radar on, since there were some storms over my home airport as indicated
by the...

I took the garbage out tonight by
John Clonts
You know that life is good, when your garbage bin contains 12 empty quarts
of aeroshell W100, and 6 empty MGD bottles.
Today I installed the oil "quick change" valve, then went flying for 30
minutes, then changed the oil. Oh that makes it SO much easier! No safety
wire, no "channeling" the oil...

Old CHT probe replacement by
Frank Ch. Eigler
"Jim Burns" wrote:
It's not a new style bayonet type two wire probe. It's an old AC

Does anybody in the group have a Lycoming IO-540 parts manual handy?
I didn't find anything about it in the engine manual, but in...

Single-Engine Partnership vs. Used vs. Flying Clubs by
[email protected]
Salutations All,
I've been reading on aircraft ownership lately, and had a few
questions.
In general, how do aircraft partnerships work? Do partnerships exist
for singles? Are they a good idea vs. purchasing a used aircraft
outright? What about flying clubs - do they typically offer...

A real head-scratcher by
Jay Honeck
So we hop in the plane yesterday for the 50 minute flight to
Janesville, WI, and I notice that the display on our JPI EDM-700
engine analyzer looks funny.
Some of the LED numbers are missing pieces. Most are not. All the
vertical graph/bars appear to be fine.
Now for the odd part: The missing...

Flying into Canada by
O. Sami Saydjari
I expect this question has been asked many times here....but here goes.
Exactly what, if anything, do I need if I want to fly into Canada?
Does the answer change if I want to land in Canada or if I am just
flying through their airspace? I expect to be on an IFR flight plan, so
I will already have...

Diamond DA-40 headroom by
[email protected]
I had a chance to fly a DA-40 Diamond Star quite a bit over the
holidays, to give some young eagles rides to kids in the family. After
flying this plane, I'd have to say I much prefer it to either the 172
or Archer. The only downside I found was that the headroom in the front
seats is just barely...

Can you mix oil weights? by
Ben Jackson
Let's say you're at a point where you need to add a quart of oil.
You've decided you would like to finish this oil change interval at
a lighter weight (eg you put in AeroShell W100, SAE-50, and now it's
freaking cold). Can you add a quart of a (substantially?) lighter
weight oil (presumably in the...

Mooney Electric Trim Problem by

Perhaps someone here can suggest where to start looking for this
problem:
Ocassionally, the electric trim on my '78 Mooney 201 will stop working
for "nose up". When I press the button and push forward the trim will
run nose down, buy the other way - nothing. While I have the button
pressed, the...

AnywhereWX??? by

After considerable research, I have pretty much written off adding weather
to my Garmin 530 right now. It looks like the GDL-49 just doesn't do what I
want, and is too susceptable to interference for efficient delivery of
detailed weather, and you have to add another damned VHF antenna (which
would...

ADF Problem by
tony roberts
Hi
Today I was flying north and my ADF was tuned to an NDB.
The needle pointed at 330 degrees (or 11 O'clock) until I reached the
NDB, and then it swung until it pointed behind.
I dialed up the next NDB and it pointed at 330 again until passage.
And I dialed up another NDB - same indication - all...
