Flarm IGC files on non-IGC certified Flarm? by
Movses
I'm somewhat confused with the functionality of the flarm core in regards to producing flight traces.
I was never able to obtain a trace from my Flarm Core Pure.
I put the usb drive in, turn it on, wait for the light to settle to green, turn it off, pull the drive - nothing.
Updating settings from...

US club class definition by
[email protected]
So where is the official definition of Club class on the SSA site?
I downloaded the Handicap Excel file, and sorted it by any that had a "C" attribute in the notes. It appears to include LS-6 .898 to Austria SH-1 1.115 but probably in error it shows something i never heard of as Freedom Falcon...

Nimbus 4 Accident by
Bill
I posted the message below on the thread, "Nimbus 4DT accident 31 July
2000 in Spain." I am posting it again for better visibility.
Stan Hall presented his analysis of the Nimbus-4DB accident in Minden,
NV, 1999. Stan's analysis is scary, to say the least.
The article, Probing for the Smoking...

Ka-6 Rigging by
vontresc
Well I finally got out in my (new to me anyways) Ka-6 the other day,
and I was wondering if anyone out there has some tips to make
assembling it any easier. Ideally I'd like to get to a system where I
wouldn't have to bother fellow club members too much for help. I
figure as long as I keep the beer...

LX1000 Wiring Diagram by
Luke Roberts
Does anyone have a manual, or wiring diagram for the
Avionic Dittel LX1000 vario. I have one with various
wires hanging off it, but some have been cut off.
A simple numbered chart for the 15 pin (DB15) plug
would be fine.
Thanks, Luke

1-26 for first glider, or not? by
tstock
I know I will get replies on each end of the spectrum... but for a
first glider, low time pilot, it seems like a 1-26 would be a good
choice. Easy to fly, easy to land in tight spaces, cheap to maintain,
and very common and there are a few 1-26 groups, so help is
available. It's inexpensive (well...

Slips in turns and landing with winglets by
[email protected]
I know this is a silly question, but I was reading an article by Dick Johnson that talked about holding a slight slip while thermally. This article was written before winglets and I was wondering if the same idea applied to gliders with winglets. Also, as for slipping to lose altitude for landing...

iPhone 6+ or Galaxy Note 4? by
Duster
With the larger-format 5.5" iPhone 6 Plus coming out to match the Galaxy Note 4, which of those two do glider pilots recommend for running common navigation software? ...or other pluses/minuses?
Thanks,
Michael

wristbands for air sickness, do they work ? by
Jack[_11_]
I am learning to fly gliders and I struggle with motion sickness.
I have tried:
- Ginder tablets, it helped but I was still a bit nauseaus.
- Motion sickness tablets, they affect my awareness and concentration.
- Chewing various things, best was beef jerky (not a joke) it helps but
still not good...

Best club and commercial web sites by
Vsoars
Which clubs and commercial operations have outstanding web sites that
make people eager to give soaring a try? Out of date sites with
pictures that don’t include recent improvements and photographs that
are obviously from another decade can’t help us recruit members.
Great web sites can. Please...

IGC Google Earth Replay by
[email protected]
may be someone is interested in a small programm ( http://ywtw.de/igcsim.html
) that allows you to replay IGC-files in Google Earth. It's a replay,
without use of kml, best for flights in the mountains :-)

High Speed Passes & the FAA by
JJ Sinclair
Isn't there an FAR that says aviators will not fly below 500 feet, if over
people, places or things, unless they are in the act of landing? This question
was asked by a pilots wife/crew at a nationals. Her motorhome was located on a
permanently closed runway about 500 feet from the active runway....

Alternative magnetic compass by
[email protected]
A sailplane's Flight Manual usually requires a magnetic compass (or an aviation compass)as minimum equipment. Well, panel space has become less available and you are seeing fewer sailplanes with panel or glare-shield mounted 2.25 Airpath C2xxx or PAI-700 aircraft specific compasses.
Anyone have a...
