When Weather Diverts You. . . by
Patty
It's part of flying, and there's nothing you can do about it. . .
perhaps.
You're trying to get to your destination, or maybe you're trying to
get home. You look at the weather and no matter how you plot out your
time, direction of flight, and other options, you're staying put!
Blessing or...

hangar fire extinguisher by
[email protected]
I see a neighbor's hangar has two conventional fire extinguishers on
the wall. Not a bad idea, I'm sure. But for potential hangar fires are
halon still the best or are the conventional extinguishers just fine?

Getting the bug for a new plane by
Gerry Preston
....and wondering if anyone here has bought a factory-new plane
recently. . .
I bought a new C-172S in December 2001 out of Cessna factory
inventory, through a local Florida dealer. The dealer
wouldn't budge off MSRP, but Cessna incentives amounted to
about $7500.
I've enjoyed the plane but want...

I fly a Gulfstream 3 and am looking at semi-retiring next year.
I plan on getting a Piper Cub, and offering a package vacation which
would include a J-3 checkout, sunset boat ride, and a week in a
condo/house on or near the beach in Gulf Shores, Alabama. There would be
other goodies offered such...

Los Angeles area airports by
Kevin
I am thinking about buying my first airplane and am seeking some
advise about where to base it. Burbank is the closest airport to me
and where I did my primary training, but I don't know if there are any
affordable options there. Whiteman and El Monte are about equal
distance from my home. Of...

300hp engine choices? by
ivo welch
hi: ok, it looks like I will need an engine in the 300hp range that
is certified. I really dislike the old and noisy lycomings and
continentals. the bombardier looks like a ways away. are there any
other reasonably good certificated choices?

T-hangar and aircraft dimensions by
Nathan Young
I have rented space in a 40x40 hangar for the last few years, and am
planning on purchasing a t-hangar in the near future.
I would appreciate comments on desireable things to look for in a
hangar.
My thoughts:
1. Overall hangar condition, structurally sound. All the T-hangars
at my airport are...

Oil coolers by
Dan Luke
Somehow, in 6 years of flying, I missed the fact that not all light piston
airplanes have oil coolers. Why is this so? What factor determines when an
O-320, for instance, must have an oil cooler? ISTR that the oil does a large
percentage of the cooling in aircraft piston engines. How does the...

Radio station license re-application? by

I'm a bit confused about if I need to re-apply for the radio station license
after purchasing an airplane that already has one in-force. Do I need to
re-license the radios with the FCC?
