Nieuport 28 photos by
John Ousterhout
My buddy Ray Jarvis has completed and flown his Airdrome Aeroplanes
Replica Nieuport 28. It's full scale and is powered by a 9-cylinder 150
hp Rotec Radial engine.
Its debut was the Gardner KS Gathering of Eagles last weekend.
I had a ball shooting aerial photos from the front seat of a...

changing operating limitations by
pittss1c
Is it possible to change the operating limitations of your homebuilt
after it has been certified?
Let me take the more extreme case...
I was wondering, if one owned (or bought) an RV3, is it possible to
change the operating limitiations to have a red line of 120 knots, and a
maximum continous RPM...

Lathe Help by
Bruce A. Frank
I have come by a lathe that has some electrical problems. The unit has a
2 hp 3 phase 220 volt motor. One of the magnetic relays was burned out
when I got the lathe. I replaces the relay, turned the switch on and the
brand new relay burned up also. Though the lathe came with most of the
tooling...

most facile way to move heavy toolcase up/down stairs? by
Alan Horowitz
ET onboard a ship. Have decided after time to have own tools. Got
them packed into one of those larger wheel-around, pull-the-handle-out
check-in hard-shell Samsonites. Ends up being a bit heavy, cause of
tool junkie genetic coding.
Works great..... except when have to go up or down...

another poor man's car engine conversion by
jan olieslagers[_2_]
Yesterday I was talking to a friend who plans to power his single-seat
slow flyer with an engine from a Citroen Visa. I suppose this engine (a
linear descendant from the famous Citroen 2CV) is not well known in the
US, it is an air-cooled 2-cylinder boxer, in this particular application
it...

Oh those CERTIFIED plane engines !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! by
stol
For all you guys and gals building a homebuilt plane DO NOT use a auto
engine conversion or any other option that is not FAA certified, Ya see
the feds and Lycoming have a lock on the market providing "quality and
time tested powerplants". Let's see now. it all started a few years
back when...

Fiberglass Cowl Problem by
Boelkowj
Hello All: I have 10-32 screws with 8s size Tennerman Washers as attach
fittings. The cowling holes have worn slowly but surely and now I know it is
time to fix this vibration problem. I like the size of the 8s but I suspect I
really should use 10s. They are unpainted and not bonded to the cowling....

takes their kitchen with him when they travel but he's taking a bunch of

Stiffness of finished Carbon Fiber part by
RKT
I have a finished CF sample, a common single-ply weave, that exhibits
extreme stiffness, 'thin-ness' and is very lightweight, it looks dry. I have
molded a part using a similar weave, single ply, and do not get the same
stiffness. I can easily deform the finished part with a press of the thumb.
I...

nissan 3.5 liter by
Hello,
Has anyone looked at this engine for use on a plane? It looks to me like it
might have possibilities. It's used in a bunch of different vehicles with
different outputs from 240hp all the way up to 287hp due to different
exhausts, intakes and computers (I think). Anyway the stats as...

A-65 mechanic question by
Michael Horowitz
My A-65 had the lower half redone.
At operating temp. and at idle, the oil pressure is certainly below
15PSI and may be below 10.
I asked the company that did the work and they replied "we don't worry
about low pressure at idle".
Continental says a minimum of 10PSI.
I'll get my A&P to put a real...

Problem with Unison Lasar Ignition by
hmoser
I have a PA-28R-180 with a Lycoming IO-360 engine. I did install your
Lasar ignition system 2 years ago and it did run without any problem
just until recently. Since 2 months I am experiencing problems with the
ignition. I have grounded the aircraft since then.
My observations:
Engine start is...

Does it have to WHITE!!! by
firstflight
I have a composite kit aircraft, and it is time to paint! But I just hate
the idea of painting it WHITE (like most all the others). I understand that
HEAT is a big factor in this decision, and that white attracts the least
amount of heat which could disrupt the Epoxy over time. Since my plane...
