Rib stitching vs glueing by
[email protected]
I was reading some information on Fisher Celebrity builders websites
and saw that one builder did not like the idea of glueing the fabric to
the ribs as per the plans. The ribs on the Celebrity are very thin and
he didn't think there was enough glue area for a satisfactory bond, so
he rib...

Flight test update by
nauga
Wish I had more news, but I did make two more (brief)
flights yesterday. Flight #2 was about 0.5, first
time out of the pattern. I've put a trim tab on
the rudder (I love duct tape), and that helped
quite a bit. Still, having to hold right rudder,
thin shoes, and a cold day, and my right...

Another antenna question by
David Wilson
Still looking for an external antenna for my handheld. I am now thinking
about putting it on the back side of the baggage compartment inside of the
fuselage. This is in a wood and fabric airplane. The back of the
compartment is approximately 8"x24" made out of 1/8" plywood. What I would
like to...

good book by
Rich
Holidays are approaching...
For those looking for an inexpensive aviation-related gift, or a book
to read while flying commercial, I recommend the following book:
"flight of passage" by Rinker Buck
I'm not affiliated with author, nor do I make any money off this.
It's simply a good book.

Aircraft Designations by
David Townend
The second printing of "Military Aircraft Designations and Systems" is still
available. We were out of print soon after our October 2002 printing so it
is good to have copies available again. We are also able to hold the
original price, too. Military Aircraft designations
catalogued from 1913 to...

Spacewalker 2 / Revolution 2 by
dave
Anybody building or flying a Spacewalker 2 or Revolution 2? I would
like to find one in western NY or near Niagara Falls ONT. I might
even be interested in picking up a set of unused plans or a project if
the price is right.

Looking for a sub-100hp engine with long TBO time. by
tffy
This is for a hypothetical ultralight design, so just looking for
suggestions here of where to look at... hopefully a 4-stroke, purchase
price doesn't matter much, certification status doesn't matter either.
Long time before overhaul matters A LOT... so, the longer the better.
Is there anything out...

EAA Hangar Purchase by
Kyle Boatright
Anyone got stories to share (good or bad) about EAA chapters purchasing
hangars? Our chapter has been offered the right of first refusal on a
hangar at the local field and I'm trying to figure out if there is any way
to make it work. Long story short, the chapter would have to lease the
hangar to...

Rotax 582 Tach Problem by
[email protected]
I've got about 200 hours on my Rotax 582 engine and was flying one day
when the tach quit. I bought a new Westach tach and installed it.
When I started the engine the tach seemed to work just fine but then
after a couple of minutes it quit. Thinking that I had a defective new
tach I sent it back...

I have tried both Acetone and MEK in the past and eventually was able

Both can also be destructive...

Ignition problem? by
nauga
My #3 cylinder has always run a little cold
on the right mag only. I fixed what I thought
was an intake leak 20 hours ago and that helped,
or at least seemed like it, but today it became
clear that #3 was not firing at all on the right
mag. To make a very long story a little shorter,
the problem...

Drywall Gussets by
Veeduber
It's all about strength to weight.
Feathers aren't very strong. But then, birds aren't very heavy.
Fabric is stronger than feathers, except for the quill. Even cotton fabric.
Or resin-coated paper. And wood makes pretty good quill-stuff. Or even grass.
Bamboo is grass.
One of the tricky bits...
