Aluminum hinge by
VideoFlyer
I am looking for aluminum piano hinge (MS20257) for a Zenith 601 XL. The
flaps use a seven foot hinge. The longest I have been able to find is six
foot. Anybody know where I can find a 7-8 foot long piano hinge...MS20256P4?
(I can find 8 ft. hinges, but it's a different alloy....5005 instead of...

Compression loss on cylinder when rings line up Truth of fiction? by
test it
I have heard many people, including a couple of A&Ps, say that when
the rings on a cylinder all line up that the cylinder will loose
compression. This doesnt make sense to me because if the rings are
going to leak, then they would leak anyway. There is an air path
between each ring for the air...

Labels for cockpit? by
[email protected]
I've been wondering what to do for labels in the cockpit of a homebuilt. The
Brother line of printers looks like it might be good. They have tape that
prints white on a black background in a variety of widths. I like the
traditional look of white on black, but I don't know if these labels...

Lower Drag: Rounded or Sharp? by
Jay
I've been wondering which shape is lower drag, a rounded one or a
sharp one. I can understand why the leading edge of a wing would be
rounded, this allows a larger range of AOA before flow speration and
stall, but what about the vertical stabilizer? Wouldn't this be
better with a sharp leading...

1 watt and 5 watt LED for Nav lights? by
Bill
To Jim Weir and Group
I am interested in using the new (to me) 1 watt and 5 watt LEDs for
nav lights.
Not having to worry about changing bulbs or the power requirements are
very attractive.
I have seen some posts about leds but would like to tie it all
together.
I know of two sites showing their...

Double covering fabric covered wings by
[email protected]
I just found out about a method being used by some experimenters to
cover their wings that is intriguing. They are literally covering the
wings twice with fabric.
The technique involves covering the wing initially with a heavy grade
fabric, taughten it with the iron as specified, apply the rib...

LED / Nav lights by
Scott Gettings
Recently I posted some questions regarding this issue. After some
experimentation, it appears that LEDs and inexpensive strobes are indeed
a feasible option for experimental a/c.
Following a presentation at our recent EAA meeting, our most senior DAR
liked the mock-ups so well that he will...

capacitive fuel guage by
John Smith
I am trying to find some information on your capacitive fuel sending
unit that was in KitPlanes. Do you offer this as a kit? Do you have
info on making the probe? I have Velocity and I would like to mount the
probe in the site glass so as not to have to drill holes in my
nonleaking fuel tanks...

need link for SS rivet supplier by
Charles S
I know this is not proper for this group, but I need to purchase some
countersunk very small SS rivets.
I need to connect 2 and three sheets of 20 ga. stainless.
I feel there are more qualified metal working craftsmen here, as anywhere.
Hence I ask.
I would sure appreciate a link to a supplier...

Rotax 582 engine problems by
L. Darte
There are two planes hangered at my field with Rotax 582 engines which
are both having the same problem. Each engine has about 30 to 40 hours
on them and suffer from surging and/or power failure during climb-out or
shortly after. Typically, the RPMs will drop from 6000 to around 4800
after about 2...

My dog ate the list by
WhiteKnuckles
Hi again all,
I asked for a listing of the Narco 11A pinouts and received same from one of
you gentlemen. Well, no bull****, my pit bull chewed it up before I was able
to make use of it. I understand that the 120A has the same pinout as the
11A, so if some one would take pity on me and resend this...

Rate of climb by
Dillon Pyron
The newest "tallest building" is the Taipei 101, at over 1650 ft.
What is truly amazing are the elevators, which ascend at a rate of
over 3300 ft/min. As my wife pointed out, "my poor eardrums". Can
you get an embolism at that rate? (I'm a diver, getting a bubble is a
major issue).

Quickies by
Regnirps
I have seen a completed Quickie for sale that no one will touch. The word is
that since it was never painted, there is no way to know how much sunlight (UV)
the fiberglass has been exposed to and no way to test the strength.
On the same subject, has anyone seen a Quickie with one of the new twins...
