Saw a VLJ in operation yesterday! by
B A R R Y[_2_]
Yesterday, I caught an Eclipse 500 @ HFD.
While I've seen them many times on display at shows, this was the first
time I saw one in actual service. This particular example belonged to a
large medical lab and is used to fly cargo. I was told this plane is
around a month old.
I walked out on...

Piston single research by
B A R R Y[_2_]
Folks,
I'm starting to research my next plane.
Is anyone aware of a book that lists, or better yet, groups by
similarities, piston single aircraft for performance and specification
research?
Any suggestions are welcome. A website would be OK, too, but I'd
actually prefer printed material.

How *was* AOPA Expo? by
B A R R Y[_2_]
Even though I live 20 minutes from HFD, I missed the show!
I saw the outside display Friday morning, but due to other commitments,
never got to the Convention Center. Last minute changes to my schedule
even caused me to miss my type club's lunch Friday afternoon.
I wasn't able to put together...

University of North Dakota video lessons by

In ITunes, search for "University of North Dakota".
UND has put video ground school lessons up for free! My Ipod is audio
only, but I watch the lessons on my PC. Video Ipod owners can obviously
take the video with them.
Take a look! The videos even feature commercial maneuvers.

Temporarily removing fuel and replacing it into the same aircraft by
B A R R Y[_2_]
Does anyone know of a FAR that prohibits removing fuel, avgas in this
case, and then putting it back into the same plane? The plane is flown
for part 91 service only.
Examples:
1.) The plane is 50 pounds overweight for conditions. 10 gallons is
siphoned out into a clean, single-purpose,...

Radio Squeal by
B. Jensen
I just hard wired my ANR headset into my ship's power so that I no
longer have to use a 9v battery as a power source. Now I am getting an
intermittent squeal when I transmit. I never had this problem with the
9v power pack. My ANR is a Headsets Inc. conversion to a David Clark
headset.
Any ideas...

Flying over Canada VFR by
B. Jensen
I have a question regarding flying over Canada VFR without landing in
Canada. For instance, if I takeoff from Saginaw, MI and fly VFR to
upstate NY, I would fly in Canadian airspace. If I don't land in
Canada, and since my flight originated in the US, what requirements, if
any, are there for...

A question for the future by
B25flyer
Over a period of time aviation seems to make changes due to technical advances.
As such in the past certain "basics" of aviation that were once written in
stone have gone by the wayside.
So here is one for ya. Last week I started a student on the ground school
basics of cross country planing. Draw...

Super tanker by
B25flyer
Several months ago there was a discussion here about fire suppression tankers.
I mentioned that a certain airline was looking into the modification of 747s.
Some people expressed the feeling that it would never happen.
Take a look at www.evergreenaviation.com Look at the Supertanker icon...

Hi - I am a 300+ hour private pilot who flies out of the MacDan rental

How many pilots are there? by
bangbang
Just curious - does anyone know about how many licensed pilots there
are in the US?
I believe AOPA claims membership of about 400,000 - I wonder what
percentage of licensed pilots that represents?
Thanks.
