TE Probe on ASW-15 by
[email protected]
I'm trying to have an Ilec TE Probe mounted on my ASW-15. It looks
like one will have to cut a hole behind the rudder to fit the probe
from the backside of the fin. If anyone has any information or better
yet some pictures or drawings on the best way to install this, it
would be a great help.
Thank...

Distance wood has flown by
Steve Leonard
Nyal Williams worte:
'Al Parker and Ben Greene set a world distance record
from either Marfa or Odessa to Kansas (I believe Salina).
If memory is correct, Ben was still flying his SH-K.'
I think Ben's flight was from Odessa to Great Bend,
Kansas. And it was in an Austria S, not the later
SHK. I...

soaring wx books? by
jt
Looking for soaring weather books, especially a self published one by
a senior US weather forecaster / sailplane pilot that I used to have.
Was informal and not too technical, yet pragmatic and leading edge in
terms of his speculative theories. Anything like it available? thanks

LS-4 Landing Gear question by
[email protected]
From the LS-4 maintenance manual:
"Inspect landing gear system for preset load at folding struts of 12 -
15 kg (5.44 - 6.80 lbs)."
The error is repeated by the drawing of the the gear mechanism.
(where, incidentally, the pivot for the gear leg is drawn on the wrong
side).
Either the values are...

Antares at the convention by
bumper
Dave Nadler's Antares electric self-launch was one of the hits of the SSA
convention. The fact that it was the first glider on display, nearest the
door, didn't hurt either! I didn't do an in-depth look see, so my comments
are first impressions only.
Since I already own a Schleicher ASH26E...

Specialty Tape Question by
Doug Hoffman
I am looking for a source for a special kind of tape that I saw used
on another glider. I don't know the generic name, but this tape is
applied somewhat permanently to both surfaces that will receive normal
gap sealing tape. I'll call it "anti-damage tape". The stuff I saw
was 1/4" wide, very...

Komet Trailer Gas Springs by
P. Corbett
The main gas springs on my Komet trailer seem to be getting weaker,
making opening the trailer difficult. Can anyone suggest a US source for
these? I have emailed the Komet factory but so far, no response.

Cobra trailer gas spring by
Stephanie and Ed
I have an early 1990's vintage Cobra trailer with a front hatch. The gas
spring that holds the hatch up has deteriorated, and I'd like to replace it.
I've emailed both Cobra and the German gas spring manufacturer with no
response. I can see that the length of the gas spring is critical to the...

"Budget" suppliers by
[email protected]
Hi there,
Usually I don't like to make any recommendations, but.....I needed my
contest numbers, new registration, my sailplane logo and couple of
"beautifying" pin stripes and such; a company located in Kennewick, WA
under the name of Budget Signs made all that stuff for just $43.71.
That is not...
