Aircraft Winch by
Kobra
Flyers,
I finally had it with hangar rent increases and moved to a tie-down. So now
I have a Ramsey ATV2500 wireless remote winch for sale on ebay.com. It is
great for pulling a plane into the hangar. I used it for 1 1/2 years and it
really saved my back.
Here's the...

Insurance - smooth limits by
Paul kgyy
This is a follow-up to a discussion some time back about liability
coverage, specifically about using "smooth limits", which eliminates
the typical $100,000 cap per person. I've been buying my insurance
through AOPA, and they have told me that their carriers would not offer
smooth limits on...

Blow out static port by
[email protected]
Hi group,
There are larve in my static ports again.
The problem is that I do not have compressed air to blow them out.
I was thinking about using CO2 cartridges like they use for emergency
tire repairs. Or maybe a bicycle pump will do the job.
My concern is the max pressure I can use before I...

Does Av-Blend work? by
tony roberts
Hi Peter
The aircraft that I purchased had a long history of sticking valves.
When I bought it I started adding Avblend and haven't had any problem.
I also lean aggressively on the ground and monitor engine in flight on
an EI monitor. So maybe any of those things could be responsible for my
good...

Typical Yearly Maintenance Cost Survey by
Ron Wanttaja
I'm working on an new edition of my book _Airplane Ownership_. Like I did back
in the first edition, I'm going to be running some surveys in the newsgroup to
gather information to help prospective buyers prepare for ownership.
First question: What is the typical annual maintenance cost for your...

Days as a hanger rat by
Jack Allison
I think I've logged about four days of hanger rat duty over the past two
weeks. Still have a long way to go in terms of accommodations (chairs,
table, shelves, etc...but having your own hanger sure makes it more fun
(and, IMHO, justifiable) to hang around the airport.
Yesterday's mission: bug...

Beat up / worn out Arrow valuation by
Chuck
Hi everyone,
I thought I'd throw this out for discussion and see what comes from
some of the experienced people on the list.
I'm helping out some at a local school. The owner of the school is a
REAL penny pincher. He scrimps and saves anywhere he can. He'd reuse
oil if he could (he already...

Rogue's Gallery Update -- Talk about diversity! by
Jay Honeck
Wow. When we started the Rogue's Gallery -- a webpage where aviation
newsgroup aficionados can post pictures of our aircraft, in an effort to get
to know one another better -- I had no idea this thing would eventually grow
to encompass 32 different makes of aircraft!
More amazingly, within those...

Anywhere Map with XM weather by
Doodybutch
I just ordered Anywhere Map with XM weather today using a wireless Compaq
4700 PDA. It sounds like the display and features are a lot better than the
Garmin 430/530 with XM weather, as far as the moving map, terrain avoidance,
and weather displays go, although it is not IFR approved and it has no...

Does Av-Blend work? by
Denny
Yeah, this is a conundrum... It has a bluish tint to it, which I assume
that word is due to the active chemical molecule/element, as the
usual liquid, lubricant stuff is normally clear...
Now, the local FBO rented C-150's for decades, and for decades had
stuck exhaust valves on a regular basis...

Planeless in Indianapolis by

We are in the middle of our first annual for 43H and it seems to be
taking longer than I thought. I figured on about a week from beginning
to end... Wrong!! After it is said and done it looks like it is going to
take around a month. Ran into a couple unexpected items (sound
familiar) that require...

Audio Panel Suggestions by
Jay Honeck
I've currently got a Narco CP-136 that works fine, but is cosmetically bad.
(Faceplate cracked -- and repaired -- several times...)
I'm thinking that we might pick up a new audio panel at OSH '05, but am
somewhat confused on what's available.
Here's what I want:
1. Audio panel with marker beacon...

What size fuse for Cessna Clock? by
Mark Martindale
Does anyone know what size fuse is used in the clock circuit in a 172H.
This fuse is located in a holder by the battery box. POH only shows fuse
and no ampere rating. I would guess 1 or 2 amp??
Thanks,
Mark
