Hobbs Day 3 7-06 # 711 reporting by
TomnKeyLargo
Today was a struggle to get up to 4000 agl for the start. Thermals were choppie
and the lift in the Hobbs area was simply lousy. A MAT for all classes was
called with Jal the first turn, but that was changed to Seminole as the first
turn for all classes. Sports got a 2.5 hr time, Standard was 3...

Hobbs Day 5 7-08 # 711. by
TomnKeyLargo
At the pilots meeting today, the CD pushed back grid time to 12:30 and the
pilots meeting in the front of the grid to 12:45. This is a big help to all as
we do not launch so early and grind around for several hours with 100 degree
cockpit heat before the start. Yesterday the high alitude was around...

Hobbs Day 5 # 711 reporting by
TomnKeyLargo
Launch was pushed back till 1:45 pm. Lift was light and the cd, errrr the
sniffer whos the CD, was not climbing well. The task for Standards and 15 Meter
were changed to a MAT of 2 hrs. with Tatum as the first turnpoint. 927 is in
first place in Standards with a flight around 148 miles at 58 mph....

Release from Tow by
Hal
Doing a electronic declaration for a 300/500k cross country flight is
it possible to have the starting point be "Release from Tow" or does
that require a written declaration. I use the 302.

SOARING IS FUN by
Vorsanger1
One of the new posts on RAC which awaited me when I logged in was "Beastiality
Masterbation" (sic). Who knew that soaring could be so much fun ? That alone
should attract new members (no pun intended) if we could only let the word
out.
Cheers, Charles

Hobbs Day 4 7-07 # 711 reporting by
TomnKeyLargo
Well, what the blipmaps have been saying and what has been happening are too
different things. The last several days it hasn't been anything like the
forcasts the blipmaps have been giving. We started launch at a little after 1
pm. Our tasks were for good soaring conditions. Well, the tasks were...

Cambridge 302 problems solved by
Tuno
I had a post a few days ago about having trouble with my brand new 302. I
have it fully working now and thought I'd post what I did to fix the
problems.
a.. The problem with the needle pointing in some odd direction on bootup
was simply a matter of turning it on in the sunlight. Having the...

LXe/LX5000 question by
Tuno
I added several airports to the "User Database" section of the Airports page
in LXe, but when I transfer the airports data to the LX5000, the user
airports do not appear in the Near Airports page on the instrument. Does
anyone know what I'm doing wrong, or how I can fix this?
Also, I thought that...

Soaring sites near Pasadena, CA? by
Jeremy Zawodny
I'm going to be in Pasadena later this month on business and would like
to take a day off to fly. I've poked around the SSA and Region 12 sites
a bit and it seems like there are a number of options within a 1.5 hour
(or so) drive.
Before I start contacting all of 'em, does anyone here have...

Because I Fly by
Sid Wood
This was found on the web some time ago (author unknown); perhaps it is time

Because I fly,
I laugh more than other men.
I look up and see more than they.
I know how clouds feel,
What it's like to have the blue in my lap,
To look down on birds,
To feel freedom in a thing called the...

Foka 4 documentation by
Matthew
I'm looking for two documents mentioned in my SZD 24-4A Foka 4 service
manual:
"SZD-24-4A Service Manual Edition II" (dated 1967)
"Overhaul Manual of SZD-24-4A Foka 4 Sailplane"
If you know where I might obtain copies of these documents, please let me
know.
Thanks,

Cobra Trailer Axel Replacement by
Carter
I have an older aluminum Cobra trailer (1983) and need a new (another) axel.
Spindleberger says the company ESPE that built the original axel and brakes
is no longer in business and not sure a custom one from his current supplier
will be worth it ($$$$$). Does anyone have a wrecked old Cobra that...

Disc Brake Modification by
Brian Iten
Does anyone know if there is a disc brake modification
available that is factory authorized for a Discus B?
If not, I guess I will eventually try the Vintage Brake
upgrade.
Thanks
