My first four flights on an RJ.03 IBIS canard by
Hans
Hi Group,
Mid-July I finally had the chance to attend the French RSA Fly-in and
spend a weekend with IBIS-builders and -planes.
Jean Claude (IBIS co-designer) offered training on the IBIS, which
motivated me even more to get into my car and drive down to Roanne and
Vichy for the weekend.
You can...

Learning to spray paint by
mhorowit
I've assembled my compressor, mounted a regulator/filter, have done
some sandblasting, and done some grinding with my die grinder. Now
it's time to learn how to use the paint sprayer.
I've been spraying water on a cardboard surface, but the viscosity/
volitility of water is such that I fear I'm...

buying sheet aluminum by
[email protected]
I am in need of a 5'x6' sheet of 2024T3, 0.025". Most of what I find
available through the likes of Aircraft SPruce is only in 4' wide
stock.
Anyone with any leads on where in North America I can purchase. I
recall seeing an advertisement in Trade a Plane with a lady inside a
rolled up tube of...

Rust prevention: Inside fuselage by
Michael Horowitz
Elsewhere I"m listening to a discussion about using boiled linseed
oil/Tubeseal to protect against rust on the inside of the fuselage.
There appear to be two views: one is start pouring the oil in thru a
small hole until full, then seal the hole. The second view is fill her
up, slosh around to...

Fuel transfer pump by
rmhou at yahoo.com
I want to add an aux tank & transfer fuel to main tank with a pump
during flight. I think it makes fuel management easier if the pump
transfer close to the engine's burn rate, say 14 gph.
I also want the pump to pick up fuel from the top of the aux tank via
a tube to the bottom of the tank so no...

Needed: Good (cheap) source for SS cable & sweges by
wright1902glider
Anyone have a good (ie cheap) source for SS cable, thimbles, and
sweges? This is for a non-aviation project so strength specs aren't an
issue, as long as its SS (or looks like SS to my roommate). The
intended useage is in the rails of the deck I've been attempting to
finish for months. Yes, its...

Pitot/Static/Transponder Problem by
Kyle Boatright
I was using Flight Following yesterday and was reminded of a problem that my
RV has displayed for a long time: The transponder and altimeter do not
agree. In general, ATC sees my altitude as about 200' lower than what is
shown on my altimeter.
A couple of facts:
- The transponder/encoder...

Treating rust on tube interior? by
Michael Horowitz
I can twist and turn various tubular parts on my restoration project
and hear rust rolling down the tube.
Assuming there is no serious corrosion, how is this treated? Does one
make any attempt to remove rust from these sealed tubes or simply
inject boiled linseed oil (etc.), slosh, drain? - Mike

There I was, flat on my back... by

....in the footwell of the RV-6. Thankfully, it was only 100 degrees on the
ramp and 110 in the hangar.
On a happier note, those 5 minutes spent under the panel allowed me to
install a decent 12V power receptacle to replace the junker I'd bought at
the auto parts store. Ooh the joy of...

Subaru EG33 JDM Questions by
[email protected]
I've bought a "92-96" EG33 from Engine World that was imported via
JDM. All hoses were cut and the ECU was NOT included. I've found the
number "022110" stamped on the engine housing near the flywheel.
I've been told the 92-96 EG33's were all the same engine. Can anyone
verify this or speak on...
