Aircraft storage by
#1ACGuy
How long can an aircraft sit unused before the fuel gums up and contaminates
the fuel system?
For instance, if I leave a motorcycle sit too long without a fuel stabilizer
added to the gas, the gas goes bad after a few months and gums up the carbs.
The entire fuel system is affected after a while....

Oil leak by
Gene Seibel
I have a 1966 Cherokee 180 with fixed pitch prop. I have noticed some
oil streaks on the back plate of the prop spinner, apparently seeping
out between the prop and flywheel. Anyone have an expereince with this?
Is there a plug in the front the hollow (I assume) crankshaft that
could be leaking? Is...

Twin nose protection by
Jim Burns
Does anybody know a company that makes nose protectors for twins to protect
them from getting beat up by ice slung against the nose by the props? I've
seen rubber strips (ugly) and heard of fiberglass and aluminum panels that
can be painted, but I can't find a thing on the web.
I see the AOPA...

Question about adding a second electric AI by
M
I'm considering adding a second (backup) electric AI. The primary AI
is vacuum driven so is the DG.
Two questions: 1. Does adding a backup electric AI require an 337?
2. Does the electric AI needs to be TSO'ed?
The plane will be used strictly for part 91 operations.
Thanks!

Prop Inspection by
William M
Anyone know what it should cost to get a cs three blade prop
inspected.
Last overhaul in 1989, hours since 5.9 (yes 5.9). Aircraft stored
majority of time in a hangar in a non-corrosive climate. No damage on
props, paint still looks fresh (even on leading edge).
What are the rules on prop...

PA32-260 on Auto Fuel by
Bruce McFadden
I'm getting really tired really fast of paying $3.30/gal for AvGas,
I'm considering buying the STC to use MoGas in my aircraft. Does anyone
have the STC and use auto gas. Do you have any comments, warnings or
anything else on the subjuct.
Thanks in advance.

PA32-260 Auto Fuel STC by
Bruce McFadden
Does anyone know if there is an STC for use of auto fuel in a PA32-260.
I've been unable to find one. At $3.30/gal for avgas at KBHM I've got
to stop the bleeding a bit.
Thanks in advance.

Looking for a good set of front seats for a Cherokee 180???? by
Chuck
Someone else on this list just gave me the idea of asking.
I'm trying to find a nice set of seats for the front of my Cherokee
180. It currently has the original low-back, not-very-adjustable
seats. They only adjust front and back.
I'd like to find some newer model seats -- the ones that have...

206 front cowl wanted by
Nigel T Peart
Hi all,
I'm wanting a front two-piece cowl for a 206. Free!
A bent and twisted version very good.
It's for a test on cooling. I need to cut it up so as to
test if extra air will drop the temps significantly.
( forever have overheating CHT's in paradrop ops)
I'll pay postage of course. Nige, South...

Fuel Valves, Wing Tips, And You by
RST Engineering
There has been much discussion about Home Depot fuel valves, homebrew
wingtips, and the like. There has been much discussion about what is and
what is not allowed by the regulations.
Finally, somebody at the highest echelons of the FAA in Washington is trying
to put some sense back in the...

Annual - Long Drivel Update by
Denny
Well, Fat Albert finally got liberated yesterday, just 6 days shy of
two months in solitary at the mechanic's shop... The 'third times the
charm' carburetor works like a champ... It didn't dump fuel all over
the ramp... It didn't run lean on takeoff... It did shut down the
engine when the mixture...

Question.
Does having a private pilot single enging land qualify to get you a sport pilot
ticket? Seems like it should but I have never read so. What do we have to do
to get that ticket. As I get older and think of giving up the Archer, (and
before losing my medical for some reason) the Sport...

sold 310 -- now what? by
Cary Mariash
After nearly a year away from the newsgroups, I am returning to seek the
wisdom and advice from the NG. After 7 years and 670 hours later, I have
sold my 1958 Cessna 310B and am looking for another plane. Although I
loved flying the 310, I could no longer tolerate the absence of deice
equipment and...
