is unnecessary but it sure helps on the bolt and nut.

Now safety is an entirely different matter....





Most if not all washers I see in the hardware stores are plated, if not Cad then nickel. I don't recall seeing any plain
ones lately...

The VAST majority are bright zinc plated.
