Kingfish,

You're one of those "dot every i and cross every t" guys, huh?

Hey, I'm German ;-)

Actually, I have had numerous occasion to get a good laugh about an
American trying to program a GPS and complaining that "MVY just isn't
in the darn database".

Kingfish,

Then I entered KBID and all
was well.

I guess we have made my point ;-)

For being so smart, computers are really dumb. After all, we knew what you
meant. Why can't they read minds, like our wives are supposed to be able to
do?

Garbage in, garbage out. ;-)

I remember a secretary at a company I used to work for who kept
blaming the computer for various mistakes. "The computer made a
mistake". I told her, "computers are perfect, they do exactly what
they are told to do." It took a few days, but one day she came to
me and said she needed to eat crow, as she finally realized the
mistake she was making, and that the computer was in fact doing
exactly what she was telling it to do.

So long as one doesn't forget that the person actually using the computer at
the time isn't the only person who has given the computer instructions.

Some mistakes *aren't* user error.

What's a "secretary"?

I vaguely remember seeing some as a young man, but I thought all of
them had been purged from the workforce? Are there any companies that
still have dedicted clerical staff?

Ran into Eva Longoria in San Diego last month while clearing customs.
Can't really say I met her but she ran right past me.

Is there an KMVY? I fly out of O61. There is no KO61, just O61. When I
file CANPASS into Canada I have to tell them I'm departing KSMF because
they can't access O61.

Are you asking rethorically or do you want a quick educational session
in proper airport identifier usage as defined by ICAO and used
internationally, including local difference for the US?
