The TBO on the Wankel engine in my ASH 26 E is "on condition" - no hour limit. Practically speaking, at 10 hours a year on the engine (my average, with 200+ hours of flying/year, it's going last way longer than I am. Even the gas engine gliders typically don't wear out, but die of old age, improper storage, pilot error, or mechanic's error. -- Eric Greenwell - Washington State, USA (change ".netto" to ".us" to email me) - "A Guide to Self-Launching Sailplane Operation" https://sites.google.com/site/motorg...ad-the-guide-1 - "Transponders in Sailplanes - Dec 2014a" also ADS-B, PCAS, Flarm http://soaringsafety.org/prevention/...anes-2014A.pdf Both. Thanks for the info. Just trying to get an understanding and comparison of the different engines and their strengths and weaknesses. The info on the TBO is good to know from a depreciation standpoint when looking at used self launchers. |
