On Tue, 30 Mar 2004 13:41:07 GMT, (John S. Shinal) disturbed the phosphur particles on my screen with the following: Not a two seater, at any rate. From Oceana according to local news. Kept burning for quite a while, despite being covered heavily in foam. I understand that the aircraft had just been refueled according to WRAL-TV. That's right. It was on its takeoff roll when, according to the press reports, it lost power and the pilot punched out. I assume that he thought that he wasn't going to be able to get airborne and he was out of room in which to bring it to a halt on the ground when he decided to bail out. I guess we won't actually know what happened until after the accident investigation board finishes its work and publishes its findings.....probably a matter of months. |
