This used to be an accepted system in Belgium (until the 90's, when we got the possibility to make all our old, non registered trailers conform to the changed legislation), but as far as I know, this is not a viable option anymore, unless you find a legitimate trailer building firm to take the responsability for the trailer and do the paperwork for you. I called the RDW and they said they do home built trailers up to 750kg, which is the same for Belgium. Any idea where I could find the info that they would allow 850kg home built trailers?

Any way to remove 100kg from the trailer and then call it a "home built" trailer? Fenders, internal supports for the glider, spare tire, etc? Go get it registered, then put back what you need?
