They could also arrange lodging for you :-)

God in Heaven, I thought that was gonna happen one time.
Ask me about Dalhart, Texas

And then when Mike and I got to SET, having just
flown across the country and spent two nights together,
his first words to (my) DH were, "she threatened me
with a knife, you know."

How do you dawn patrol types get to the airport early?

Mountain out of a molehill. 3 R/T trips San Francisco to Washington DC in a
Cessna 140. Problem never came up. Simply ask at airport.

Molehill back to mountain. 31 years West Coast to Oshkosh C-170, 172, 182.
Cessna 120 San Diego to Boston. A dozen trips West Coast to St. Louis. Problem
every trip.

Off topic questions:

1. which engine?

2. what route?

Reason for asking: thinking about flying a 65 hp Champ coast to coast.

I have a C90 in an Alon Aircoupe and my friend has the O200 in an
older Ercoupe.

We're going to try I80 going out, and will come back that way, or
maybe the southern route through Albuquerque.

Read "Flight of Passage" by Rinker Buck and you will see your 65hp
Champ is capable of such a flight.

A marvelous trip! Have a delightful time! I'm full of envy. Get lost? No
problem. Go down and read the water towers -- like REAL pilots do. Good all
over you. Go for it!

Just finished reading it. They had an 85, oversized to maybe 100 hp.
Need to be able to make 8000 to fly the pass.

Once had a 65 hp Luscombe to 13K. Two aboard. 10-12K no biggie in a 85 hp
Cessna 120/140. What's the problem? Dont argue; Try it.
