you mean the DE did not give you a copy of all the paperwork?
And you did not keep a pencil copy of the 8710 you filed out? That DE should give you your money back.. BT "James M. Knox" wrote in message ... "MRQB" wrote in : Your log book should have your check ride date and examiners signature It does. And I still have the original (well, the copy they give to the applicant) temporary certificate. But it's not that the FAA doesn't believe me (well, actually, they don't - or at least they don't care). They require a full data package, including application for certificate, original (from the DE) of the temporary, original of the knowledge test, etc. None of that exists anymore, of course. Current plan is for me to reconstitute the 8710 form for back when I took the checkride, try to get a new "original" of the knowledge test certificate (which has expired), and the other paperwork. Take that to my my CFI and get him to sign another copy. Then fly over to east Texas (about 250 nm each way) to get the DE to sign everything. Then if I am lucky we can mail it all back to OKC. No, I'm not worried about it all --- YET! But a friend assures me they know someone this happened to, and she had to take her checkride over again. Guess I'll wait a few days before I start practicing those Chandelles again. Sigh... BTW, the FSDO suggestion. Turns out my local (75 miles away) FSDO isn't involved. It's the one 200 miles away that is involved. And they aren't even taking requests for scheduling visits (no walk-ins, period) until the alert level goes back down. ----------------------------------------------- James M. @fed1read01: you mean the DE did not give you a copy of all the paperwork? I don't think he has a copier. His aviation business is at a small field, where he is the one-man flight school, repair, etc. But it shouldn't really have mattered. He *did* (of course) give me my copy of the temporary certificate. I have no idea what other information (other than the 8710 and knowledge test certificate) he sends to the FAA. And you did not keep a pencil copy of the 8710 you filed out? Actually, at the time I had several copies. But.... well, a few weeks after the checkride I tossed the old copies (after all, I *had* the signed temporary certificate, and was just waiting for the permanent one to arrive... DUMB DUMB DUMB). That DE should give you your money back.. Heck, I'm just hoping he doesn't make me take the checkride over again! G ----------------------------------------------- James M.
