Yeah, but I cringe a little thinking about having to go poking around
trying to get rid of those hung-up live grenades down there with the
pins pulled out.

Guess the "mopane pole" was required equipment.

Dad would hold the aircraft very steady and I would carefully remove
the spring loaded cap, take a small pole (cut from a mopane tree) and
push the hung-up grenades out the tube.
