If you are free you may not feel the need to vote -- a lot of people don't feel strongly one way or another and they like it that way. Low voter turnout is a symptom of freedom, not the denial of it. I realize that this goes against the political parties which encourage high voter turnout in order to validate their 'mandate.' But the fact is that in America people don't vote unless the government steps on their toes. It only seems right to me that those who care the most about issues are the ones who vote and have the most say. |
