But that's why I'm a (rare) proponent of a liberal arts education. The
broader (some might say "more useless" :-) education of a liberal arts
degree goes a long way toward teaching one to think, study, and learn.

And that, in the end, is all you can really hope to achieve in college.

Communists. Capitalism was the absolute bane of all existence, in their
world.

However, that kind of propaganda-laden education ultimately only works on

I think the Reagan Revolution was pretty good evidence of that.

academia?

What revolution? Increased government by double and re-arranged some, but
other than that...

Well, the two economics courses I took at Carleton College (where
Prof. Wellstone taught before he got elected to the senate) were based
on mainstream economics of the day, using one of the standard
mainstream texts (Milton Friedman, maybe?).

exist and a slew of other noxious "ideas". And it's not the last thirty

Ah...no, they teach (roughly) that thinking is impotent, reality doesn't
exist and a slew of other noxious "ideas". And it's not the last thirty
years, but more like the 1920's and John Dewey.

Certainly not what I encountered at Carleton College in the 1970s.
Liberal arts education meant a broad base of material, and an emphasis
on critical thinking.
