It would appear that the "Northwest" flow means that you are using the
runways "to the north" and "to the west"," "southeast" means you are using
the runways "to the south" and "to the east", etc. Intuitively, for
newcomers anyway, this should be "easier to remember" than "Purple".. (Which
runways is THAT?)
