Where do you mount a GPS in a Cub?

Sheez. I thought I was getting information, not giving it!

The old one went on the back of the front seat, mounted on an
upside-down picture frame, viz: www.pipercubforum.com/garmin.htm

I haven't flown with the 296 yet. This afternoon.

Okay, here's what I like about the 296:

The "nearest" button calls up 15 airports, which is all I am likely to
use. So despite those thousands of waypoints stored therein, the 296
has a more useful choice than my honed-down III+.

The color screen is a hoot.

The terrain-avoidance feature is amazing. It warned me of the radio
antenna on Blue Job mountain that I use for navigation.

It is more intuitive than the III+, using which I sometimes lost track
of where I was and how to get back to the "track" screen. The 296 is a
breeze to navigate (as it were).

And, most of all, a guy from Garmin read my post and sent me email
offering to help. What an outfit! I will certainly take advantage of
this offer when I have all my questions in a row.

***************************

What I don't like:

The color washes out when there's a lot of sunshin going on (which, in
an L-4 wannabe, is a lot of the time).

It interferes with my radio! I am going to have to work this one out.

**************************

I haven't decided where to mount it. I may build an extender to my
kneeboard and put it there. It seems to work just fine with the
antenna pointing near horizontal.

Here I am again, giving information where I'd hope to garner some!
