Ok, now here's a good one.... Freezing drizzle advisory this morning
changing to rain in the afternoon with warmer (35F) temps. So most of the area's schools were 2 hours delayed. Township roads were pretty slippery, County and state roads were fine. So what does our local school do???? No delay, send the busses out this morning on the ice THEN declare they will cancel school... When??? at 1pm!!! Just so they can call it a full day towards their 180 school days. And what's the weather now at 2:45?? 35 degrees and rain, roads are clear... un freakin real. They did that here, too. They cancelled school at 2PM (one hour early), causing untold grief for thousands of parents. What's the weather? It's 36 degree here, and raining. That's RAINING. It's predicted to freeze later tonight. At first I thought the school district was being overly cautious. I now realize they are merely lazy, stupid idiots. -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |

Then he sends the corrected post, which is a separate item and also gets distributed to the Usenet servers. That's when you see two seemingly identical posts. The second post is followed by a cancel of the first post, which (eventually) removes the original post from some servers. Some people might always see both posts, as some Usenet servers do not accept cancel commands. John Galban=====N4BQ (PA28-180) And MANY servers don't accept CANCEL messages. |

I didn't realize you could cancel a previous post (or, at least try to do so). All I have to do is highlight the post I want to get rid of and hit the
"delete" key. It then asks if I am sure that I want to cancel this post and I say yes. Try it and see if it works for you. Of course you can only cancel your own posts. That is unless you change your identity, then you can cancel anything you want whether it is your or not. Jon Kraus PP-ASEL-IA '79 Mooney 201 Triple43Hotel Jack Allison wrote: Not that strange. I've seen a number on Giganews but I thought it was people posting
from the beta Google. Shows what I know..... Sometimes if I fat finger something and I catch it after it gets posted I go back and do a "Edit as New" to the post and then delete the old one. My newsgroup viewer (Netscape) doesn't show the deleted one but maybe others do... Since I fat finger a lot it probably looks like a lot of double postings... I'l try to be more careful... ![]() In testament to the human brain's ability to take in information: I had to actually read this TWICE to realize each word is doubled. I need an aspirin... I didn't even realize it until I read your post and then went back to the original post. Yikes. |

Yep! Here in the Tampabay area, it's been 75-80 degrees every day this year. Not a single drop of precipitation so far....kinda boring. I had to do a Cat 2 autoland in Tampa Monday night. D. |
