from a business 101 standpoint, the buyer should never be the first one
to quote a price offer. that's what people mean when they say "i'm not going to negotiate with myself." the quoted price is just a starting point but it is the sellers starting point, not necessarily the buyers and unless you're dealing with an unwilling seller, that's the way it should be. and, as a seller, i would have the greatest effection for the person who believes that if you have to ask, you can't afford it. i'll even throw in my satisfaction guranteed money back offer. (if i'm not TOTALLY SATISFIED with your money; i'll give it back! promise.) dan |

We're getting into "explaining the joke" territory here, and that *never* works out well. However...financier J.P. Morgan was asked by a reporter how much his yacht cost to operate. "If you have to ask, you can't afford it," he replied. I take the absence of prices being mentioned in an advertisement to indicate that they're selling stuff that falls into that category. With the explanation, it may not be funny, but I hope at least you understand what I was getting at, anyway. -- David Dyer-Bennet, , http://www.dd-b.net/dd-b/ RKBA: http://noguns-nomoney.com/ http://www.dd-b.net/carry/ Pics: http://dd-b.lighthunters.net/ http://www.dd-b.net/dd-b/SnapshotAlbum/ Dragaera/Steven Brust: http://dragaera.info/ |

I guess I must be from a different mold. Ever since I bought my airplane
I wondered why there is this phenomena of "no price listed". Do some people who own airplanes think the "If you have to ask" reasoning is REALLY valid. Hey, I'm shoppin' here! No price means that I now have to call you up and chase you down to see if you are asking something reasonable. If not, you just wasted my time and yours. Since "reasonable" is in the eye of the beholder, it just seems to me to make absolutely no sense to not list the price. Does calling you up make me somehow more "serious"? I think not. I am personally turned off by an ad with no price. It says one thing to me: difficult seller. Might also be a broker as someone else had mentioned. Some of them think they can "talk me into" buying their airplane. I don't think so. What a coincidence that when I was in the market, all the guys who had no price listed were off their rockers with prices 50%+ higher than the market. Your experience may vary. Good Luck, Mike However...financier J.P. Morgan was asked by a reporter how much his yacht cost to operate. "If you have to ask, you can't afford it," he replied. __________________________________________________ _____________________________ Posted Via Uncensored-News.Com - Accounts Starting At $6.95 - http://www.uncensored-news.com The Worlds Uncensored News Source |

I think that about 99% of the ads without prices are from brokers or
dealers who leave off the price because they want you to call so they can start talking to and selling you. Most of the good brokers seem to print most or all of their prices (don't know why some are not printed). Sometimes I think they leave them out of the print, but put them on the web. OTOH, a broker who doesn't print the price is likely to be trying to size you up and milk you for all he can get when you call. Caveat Emptor. |
