the question:

Should I file the STAR, even though it is a little out of the way, or should
I file a more direct route. If I file something more direct, am I likely to

When I flew from ROC to BAF last year, I filed without the STAR, and got
the route I filed. I had both routes in my GPS and in CoPilot, though.

I fly from ROC to CYOW every month, just about, and neither FSS nor DUATS
will allow me to put CYRIL or the CYRIL.CYRIL1 arrival in my flight plan,
but every time, as soon as I check in with Wheeler Sack approach they
ammend my clearance to tell me to fly to CYRIL and do the CYRIL ONE
arrival. So that's what I have in my GPS and CoPilot, in spite of filing
and cleared direct from ART.

A good landing is one you walk away from. A *great* landing is one after
which you can use the plane another time.
