Excellent advice. There are enough ways of hanging yourself without handing them one on a silver platter. Quite. Plus ATC really doesn't want to bust you as long as no separation was lost. They just want you back on altitude with the minimum of fuss. The last thing they want you to do is own up to the deviation on the tapes...
