I had a friend who worked one summer on lake freighters, and he said it was the hardest work he'd ever done. Maybe its the mystery concerning the sudden sinking, or the randomness of Mother Nature. Its strange, because in terms of lives lost, it doesn't approach larger sea (Titanic, General Slocum) or airborne catastrophes.
