this week.. $2.95 100LL
BT "BTIZ" wrote in message news:3qZmf.681$z21.196@fed1read04... Last week it was $3.05 self serve.. be interesting to see this weeks. I'm waiting.. not holding my breath.. for when the local flight school drops the surcharge he added when the prices were up. BT "Doug Vetter" wrote in message ... Couldn't believe my eyes. I pulled up to the pumps today at my home base of Old Bridge, NJ (3N6) to find AVGAS at $3.15/gallon (cash), down from a high of $4.15 IIRC. I haven't seen it that low since well before the recent runup (probably two years). Never thought I'd see the day when I was actually glad to pay $3.15 a gallon, but it's here. Oddly enough, the airport manager told me several weeks ago that the first decline (to $3.85) wouldn't be the last, so the distributor must have seen the change in the market coming. As we shutdown at the pumps and gazed at the price in disbelief I said to my partner - "Hey, want to top off and go up again? Talk about an excuse to fly!" He said "Na, gotta get going, but let's fill up a few 5 gallon cans for next time just in case it goes back up! :-)" Finally, some good news in aviation. We can actually afford to fly again. Let that be a lesson to all the assholes in this business who are overcharging us -- from the refiners, to the distributors, and ESPECIALLY the FBOs. I mean, I don't expect anyone to work for free, but my philosophy is that a business can either make a reasonable amount of money on volume or nothing at all when I don't fly. The best long-term business strategy seems clear to me. -Doug -- -------------------- Doug Vetter, ATP/CFI http://www.dvatp.com -------------------- |

![]() "Montblack" wrote My Mogas station is at the departure end of ANE's runway 27. We're at a Twin Cities low of $2.07 on Sunday morning, BTW :-) We saw 1.91, mostly 1.97 around here for mogas, about a week ago. The price is already going back up. I heard rumors of 3 bucks for mogas by new years. ****. What is the excuse, this time? Oh I know, sunspots, home heating oil demands, or one of many nonsensical reasons. I think it is safe to say that Avgas will follow suite. Anyone got a spare 500 gallon tank laying around? :-( -- Jim in NC |

$2.95? OK you win. Here in CT I think I paid $3.85 for a top-off two
weeks ago at Danbury. Geez, just two years ago I was paying 1.99 self serve at Groton CT & Columbia Co. NY. Oy. |

Geez...when I see $2.00-$2.30 per liter for our foreign friends, I feel
pretty humble at $3.50 per gallon in the US!!!!!! |

Yes, but they pay less income tax and get a month off every year. I think that works out well for people that fly/drive less. It is sort of a 'pay per use' system. I guess it all works out in the end. |

They also have national health care. If I didn't have to pay through the
nose for private health insurance, I could afford to fly a lot more, even at higher fuel prices. Seth "Flyingmonk" wrote in message oups.com... The health care comes out of all the taxes.
My top income tax rate is 50% plus a sales tax (VAT) 17.5%. But I do get 6 weeks paid vacation which I use to spend all my hard earned money in the US. 4days in NYC in Feb, 2 weeks in Wisconsin in July (inc Oshkosh) and 2 weeks starting Saturday in Florida. The luxury of paying $3 a gallon. "Seth Masia" wrote in message . .. They also have national health care. And then there's VATs... |
