European License

Bob,
Do you know what is required to fly in Germany on a US certificate? I was flying as a student in Germany last year, and got my US glider rating this winter. I would like to be able to fly as a licenced pilot this season, but was told that I would have to take a written test on human factors and one other subject, as well as a practical test.
