XC for them and not just a short hop from their home field. Before I
got my instrument ticket I was timid about flying out to Cape Cod & the
Vineyard/Nantucket from my (then) home field just north of Providence
RI during the summer because of the often rapid wx change. And that was
only a 75nm trip.

The cause of the low vis and clouds was a stalled stationary front that
the wx wizards said was going to be out of the area by early afternoon
on Friday. They guessed wrong.
