Sometime they quit and then get stabbed in the back. Actually I once
met a gruntled Former Zoom Employee. There is only one AFAIK.
Ron Wanttaja used to be a big time Zoom supporter and part time
employee.

Ron did weigh about 30 pounds more back then :-)

I want to be an "ilk".

Me too. I guess our only chance now is to go to Pinkneyville. You know,
whatever else is said about Zoom, he was mildly entertaining. Of course, I
was never sued. When I heard about the P1 temperature 0 (Pitot) tube, I
about bust a gut. And he honestly sounded like he believed it. You just
don't find folks like that every day.

Unless that was an imposter at Pinckneyville, you now are one of "the
Ilk"... with all the benefits and privileges that membership entails.

According to the 2006 webstats ousterhout.net averages about 1,200 hits
a day (45-65 unique visitors) with the Zoom pages consistently the most
clicked.

The missus says hi and that she's anxious to try MuzzleLoader again.

Not quite; I was never an employee, though I was listed as an associate editor
in one of Campbell's magazines...without my knowledge. If a friend hadn't
brought a copy of the magazine home from Sun-N-Fun, I never would have known.

Richard's description does apply to other folks, such as Al Staats (Zoom booster
on RAH one day, Zoom employee the next, RAH-15 co-defendant not long after).
Tim Kerns is probably the latest example.

As a newcomer to GA (and not yet a pilot), I look for information
everywhere. I truly believe there is no such thing as objectivity, that
every report to subjective to a point. You are right, ANN does decide
what to put on their website, and if I had the time, that I could surf
looking for press releases. Did you ever notice that magazines tend to
publish a review of a product, and within a page or two is an ad for that
product? Not random chance. The new Avweb look is dreadful,
generalaviationnew never updates much, ultraflightradio isn't bad, but the
other sites I frequent are even worse. ANN at least puts a lot of effort
into their podcasts, I'll concede that they are subjective, but I find it
easier to listen to something that is subjective than it is to listen to
something that isn't there in the first place.

As a newcomer you really ought to take advice from those that came earlier.
If you want aviation news and don't like AvWeb, (which I think is really
pretty good), then go to Google News Alerts
http://www.google.com/alerts?hl=en and create your own search string for
aviation news.
