![]() Well, we flew in. What a spectacular flight once you hit western South Dakota, flew just south of Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, the Big Horn mtns in WY, and then over the mountains in the Bridger-Teton national forest northeast of Jackson Hole. The fire TFR east of Jackson Hole ended up causing us more of a headache (or was it the hypoxia...?) then Cheney's TFR. The TFR for the airport is truly for when he comes and goes, so that didn't affect us fortunately. And sure enough, there was a very official looking 737-800 sitting on the ramp with lots of bored looking security staff hanging about. Lots of turbines (parked two deep on the ramp). Not so much piston, but parked next to us was a Taylorcraft! I'd prefer not to be in that on a hot day lumbering out of that valley. The FBO folks were still very cordial despite our lack of turbines. Thanks for all the responses. Ryan in Madison (well, not right now) |

"HE" should be leaving tomorrow in his usual 757 ride so the TFR should
be history for a few more weeks til he comes home again. What part of town is your condo in????\\ Ben wrote: wrote: Welcome to the "HOLE". Just east of where you are tied down is a hangar with 3 of the nicest P-51's you will ever see. I am in the big hangar just to the north. If you are laying in bed at to condo and hear what you think is a race car don't freak out, it's just me flying my experimental powered by a Ford V-8. I try to get up every mornin and roust the tourists...G PS. The guys at Jackson Hole Aviation are great people, they don't care if you flew in by a G-V or a Cub, everyone gets the down home western hospitality... We're in a "burnt orange" Cessna 182 (N7DL). We took the tram up to Rendevous Mountain yesterday and watched the paragliders launching off into the valley. Quite a sight! Would have loved to take a tandem flight, but the wife had issues with throwing myself off a mountain.... |
