(snip) Anyone know the scoop about logging sim time? I think so. In general, the older PCATDs are loggable ONLY for ten hours towards the instrument rating. They cannot be used for currency. Recently, Elite prevailed on the FAA to revise the rules. There are now two flavors of PCATD: "Basic" PCATD and "Advanced" PCATD. An Advanced PCATD is loggable for currency, as is a Basic PCATD with a digital display radio stack. i.e., setups with the blank stacks where the frequency displays on the monitor are not loggable. Here is Elite's approval letter: http://www.flyelite.com/support/documents/faa.pdf You may be able to find your school's configuration listed in the letter. And, actually, the old mechanical simulators like the ATC-610 are loggable for currency where most PCATDs are not. |
