Default Looking for Multi-Generational Soaring Families!!!!!!!!

oups.com...

Hello,

I am a third generation soaring pilot. My Grandfather, Dad, and Uncle
became active in the early sixties. Unfortunately, none of us are
active right now. I am hoping to get back into soaring next season.
Please let me know if you would like more information for your project.

best regards,

Kent Orr

We are also a two-generation soaring family, but it didn't happen in the
usual direction! I got the bug from my daughter.

My daughter took lessons from an early age and her non-flying father (me)
spent years at gliderports running wings, hauling ropes, and paying bills.
Thanks to the legendary Mary Gafney, she soloed and was eventually licensed at
the minimum ages. Later on, I began taking lessons and over a period of years
became a commercial rides pilot and a CFIG. Like Kent's situation above,
neither of us is currently active in soaring. My daughter is busy with her
young family and there is currently no soaring operation near where I live, so I
have to content myself with flying ratty rental Cezznas.

Kent and Vaughn, et al
YES I want more information...names and dates of first flight or solo.
Anyone that WANTS to be active again in Soaring, or came about it in an
unusual way! please get the information to me!

You would not believe the huge response! The response has been so
large, that I am now compiling a "registry", and hope to have a
register available for the convention in February. I have received so
many WONDERFUL stories, and I want to include every single one of them!
Spread the word. I can't tell you how much fun I had reviewing web
pages from Burt Compton's Dad, and one lady who was a member of the
Harvard Soaring Club in 1932! GREAT stuff, especially the story about
someone's first glider ride being in utereo! Can't get any better than
that! I especially liked the one wher a soaring school wrote about 5
generations starting with him! (A soaring pilot for 60 years!)

Micki --
